Dont sign Lowe. Hes too old and too expensive!

Dont sign Manny. We have a good outfield right now with Beltran, Church, Murphy/Tatis/Pegan/Reed/ and Evans.

Help eachother dump salaries by trading Castillo to the Dodgers for Jones or Pierre

Sign Ivan Rodriguiz abd some how get rid of Shcneider (they signed him for defense and Rodriguiz is a far better defensive and offensive player with heart) “a better LoDuca”

Dont sign Kawaksami if it long or expensive (look at Saito if the price is right instead)

Jump on a free agent starter quick if you arnt't going to make a trade Omar

Look at the less epensive alternative of Sheets Garland Ollie Garcia or Cabrea

I still don't understand why the Mets didn't consider Burnett

Loving the Yanks overpaying for Burnett.........I guess there staff is now set.........they should not bother w/Pettite

NOW lets get Lowe on the METS.........that would be perfect but I am cool if it has to be Garland or Wolf........really don't want Perez back........more new faces needed to change things up

give the ball to Garland for 33 starts and he will likely give you 200 innings. Of course, that is barely over 6 per start..

however, they are likely to be 200 lousy innings. And he only is still going to be in by the 6th/7th if the team has scored a bunch of runs.

if you want almost guaranteed mediocrity, just get marquis and pocket the 5 million difference in salary, and save 2-3 years.

he can eat 200 mediocre innings just as easily as garland.

Garland is basically a long-term 4 starter and brings more stability.

I'm all for Lowe on a 2 year deal. But 3 or 4 years, absolutely not.

Lowe is a sinkerballer, not a power pitcher (although he still misses about twice as many bats as Garland EVER has). His skill set ages much better than that of 2-pitch power guys like Petey. A 36-year-old who pitches-- superlatively-- to weak contact is much safer than an aging soft-tosser (recall Glavine when not getting calls, or Bobby Jones at age 29-30), and less of a risk (even at 3/45, say) than an flamethrower at 32 (enjoy, Yanks).

And yes, Garland's younger. He's also got a significantly lower ceiling. Like I said, paying his likely price simply isn't worth the value he provides-- it's simply not smart to pay 10-million plus per year for a guy you wouldn't think about starting in a playoff series (barring catastrophic injuries to the front 3-4 guys).

BTW, those splits for Garland:
2008
4.18 ERA/1.40 WHIP at home
5.94 ERA/1.67 WHIP road

2007
3.78 ERA/1.21 WHIP at home
4.76 ERA/1.45 WHIP road

Disagree with you 100%. Lowe played half of his innings against the NL West, the worst division in baseball.

He's a better pitcher than Garland, but for another year and probably 5 or so million more per year? Just doesn't make sense.

Sheets and Garland would be perfect.

I'd much rather have 200 quality innings from Lowe, than 200 terrible innings from Garland. Just because Garland's younger doesn't mean he's better.

And how are Garland's splits better?? He had an ERA of almost 6 on the road, and batters hit .332 against him on the road.

Lowe is a much smarter signing than Garland.

178LeiterMilnerFasterStronger

Nobody is expecting Garland to come in and be our 2 starter.

He's a 4 starter, and he'd be perfect for us there.

Santana
Sheets
Pelfrey
Garland
