if you want almost guaranteed mediocrity, just get marquis and pocket the 5 million difference in salary, and save 2-3 years.

I’m all for Lowe on a 2 year deal. But 3 or 4 years, absolutely not.

And yes, Garland’s younger. He’s also got a significantly lower ceiling. Like I said, paying his likely price simply isn’t worth the value he provides– it’s simply not smart to pay 10-million plus per year for a guy you wouldn’t think about starting in a playoff series (barring catastrophic injuries to the front 3-4 guys).

He’s a better pitcher than Garland, but for another year and probably 5 or so million more per year? Just doesn’t make sense.

And how are Garland’s splits better?? He had an ERA of almost 6 on the road, and batters hit .332 against him on the road.

Lowe is a much smarter signing than Garland.

Nobody is expecting Garland to come in and be our 2 starter.

He’s a 4 starter, and he’d be perfect for us there.
