with any luck, Utley is out until June/July after the hip surgery. And who knows hwo well he will recover (and how fast). major loss for the phils.

so basiclaly, so far they are replacing Utley with a stop gap scrub for 1/2 the season, and have traded Burrell for Ibanez. Oh, and added Ronnie Paulino and Mayberry Jr. And of course Chan Ho park.

Now that sounds like standing still at best!

Seriously, Brian Cashman has proved himself to be absolutely incompetant over the past several years. You dont even need to put out the list of terrible trades and signings, but this year takes the cake

he overbids on Sabathia by $60M, gives two more years to Burnett than anyone else, and now misreads the market on one of the Yankee favorites.

not saying Petite is worth it, but geez Brian, do you think you misread the market on that one?

The Phillies are still the team that worries me. Even though all of those Braves teams killed us for so many years, those players minus Chipper who is always hurt are gone. It’s Shane Victorino, Ryan Howard and Chase Utley that worry me.

ohhhhhhhhhh omar….the nl east got a whole lot more interesting.

furcal is going back to the braves. which means mostlikely peavey will be a brave when they trade escobar. if this happens and omar only signs perez back i feel like we will be in 3rd place this year. we now need lowe and a big bat. anything less we are doomed

I believe there is not much of a market for Ollie. Just wait it out, and his asking price will come down to a k-rod type deal. Perhaps, sign a Japanese import to compete for the 5th spot or be the long man if Niese proves adequate. The Bullpen still needs a LOOGY and one more cross over guy. Maybe Guardado and Nelson.

That’s the most fans should realistically expect. If youre dreaming of Tex or Manny, go play fantasy baseball or make that trade on mlb 2k9. Murphy needs abats.
