Also, Ohman would be a fantastic addition to the bullpen. Just the guy we need, methinks.

If we're talking about grabbing an outfielder, I'd strongly consider making an offer for McClouth from Pittsburg. Yeah, he's another lefty but he's got Pop, Speed, and he's a phenomenal defensive player. Sure, it'd take a lot to get him, but he's young would be well worth it.

As long as it does not reach 5 mil p/year, I am all for getting Mr. Ohman. He is much more than just a left Specialist. Yes he has blown some games( Even though it does not really make any sense of couple of the games he "blew"). He had a lousy year in 2007. Otherwise here are his numbers against RH:

2005: .231 BA .362 OBP .333 Slug .695 OPS

2006: .243 BA .341 OBP .389 Slug .730 OPS

2008: .256 BA .336 OBP .359 Slug .695 OPS.

Obviously he is better against LH but you can not seriously say he is crappy against RH. He could have better numbers against RH but those numbers are pretty good. If need be, he can pitch up to 2 IP. I say as long it does not reach 5 mil a/yr, it is def. worth it.

Agree -- Ohman would be a great fit and would give us a formidable bullpen top to bottom.

Gina, true, but it does also add about $20 million to the payroll (difference between Manny and Castillo).

stickguy, it's true but apparently it makes way too much sense for the front office to consider.

Hypothetically can you imagine a team with Murphy @ 2nd and Manny/Dunn in lf vs a team with Castillo @ 2nd and a Murphy/Tatis platoon in lf? I doubt you lose much, if anything, defensively but imagine the huge offensive difference.

trs, true about Murphy. If you got a budget, better to load up on top end guys (manny, tex, etc.) and use cheaper guys to make up for it.

That, of course, is when the output from the expensive guy is likely no better than the cheap guy! Like with 2B right now.

they all either stink or have issues (D), so might as well do it on the cheap.

I think at this point we have to keep Feliciano. But if we could bring in Nelson and Guardado for cheap I would be dancing in the streets.
