My 2 biggest concerns with Lowe are that we don't know how far Omar is willing to go, nor do we know where Lowe wants to play. Given that Boras is his agent, and that we have no idea where Lowe wants to play - we haven't heard word one about Lowe's feelings towards playing for the Mets, yet we know he likes the Sox- it worries me that if the Sox do get into the bidding, Omar will only go so far. But it shouldn't be that way. Omar should't look at Ollie, or worse, Wolf, as viable backup plans. There's a big dropoff after Lowe, and I pray that Omar feels the same way, even though we keep hearing about how, even though he prefers Lowe, he would be fine with either of the other two. I truly hope that's just a ploy, same as with K-Rod. Fortunately with K-Rod, he really wanted to play for the Mets and he took the money right away, and so we never got to see what would happen if Omar had to keep bidding on him, not to mention it was clear the Mets were the biggest market team in need of a closer, scaring off other teams from even trying. And we can also thank God that Boras wasn't K-Rod's agent, otherwise, who knows how it would have gone down. In Lowe's case, however, there are more ifs involved, more variables.

In the end, I can see the Sox bidding for Lowe, but only going so high, since he's not a priority. They will probably just check in to see if he can be had. So, it would come down to whether Omar is willing to outbid whatever the Sox puts out there, or, and this also concerns me, where Lowe would rather play. In the end, he just simply may want to play with the Sox again. We'll see.

Just read that the Yanks will look to move 2 players from the group of Nady, Swisher and Matsui.....I know they don't normally deal with the Mets, but Nady or Swisher would be decent options...either one could step in next year at 1B if Murphy proves to be a "flash in the pan".....wonder what it would take to get them ?

Doubtful.

The Yankees can't even afford to give Pettite $10 million, what makes you think they'll give Lowe $18 million?

As for the Red Sox, I really don't think they much have interest.

Lowe will be a Met, but it'll take time...

It was probably supposed to say "Derek Lowe and Oliver Perez" but it makes sense the way it's written too.
