I just don’t understand when I look number I don’t see a problem
actually I see Manny being Manny whos been a average 317 not including
his rookie year which still has him at 315 average. Attitude or no
attitude you have to respect the numbers and the Wilpons should also.

WE AS METS FANS NEED TO POUND THE METS WITH EMAILS INSISTING TO GET MANNY SHORT TERM. I HAVE ALREADY CANCELED MY SEASON TICKET FOR 2009. NEW STADIUM OR NOT, MORE FANS SHOULD DO THE SAME. IF MANNY IS AVAILABLE AND OMAR IS NOT ALLOWED TO BRING HIM IN 1-2 YRS, THEN ANOTHER TANK JOB IS GOING TO HAPPEN IN SEPT., 2009. FRED AND JEFF SHOULD LET OMAR BRING IN THE BEST AVAILABLE PLAYER. IF FRED AND JEFF CAN BE DOOPED BY SOME INVESTER, THEY OBVIOUSLY AREN’T SMART ENOUGH TO KNOW A GREAT BALLPLAYER WHEN THEY SEE ONE. G E T M A N N Y!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How about we sign Manny to 1 month contracts at $4 mil per month. The Mets get the option of re-signing him month to month. If he behaves, no problem for his end. He gets his $24 mil and the Mets get protection against his nonsense.

Whether we want Manny or not Dunn signing, if he is seriously looking at LA, is going to have an impact on the market for OF’s. Seeing as Minaya is clearly not going to bring an outfielder on board until the rotation is settled leads me to think that we need to get Lowe/ Perez taken care of now before we have no outfield options left.

If LA eats a major portion of his deal or takes Castillo back, what’s the harm in taking a chance on a high upside guy desperate to revive his career? At the very least, he’s a defensive replacement in LF with a better chance to hit a HR late in a game than Jeremy Reed.

He can begin platooning in the corners and maybe take over LF if all goes well.

Plus, he’d be gone after this season, while Castillo would be back for two more.

Purely defensivly though with Jones in left Beltran in center and church in right NOTHING would touch the ground

If the Dodgers eat most of his salary, then I am all for Jones in the Met of.

Is he really as bad as he was last year? I cannot believe that. And if the Dodgers eat enough of his deal (I’d say about 90% of it), would it really kill the Mets to bring Jones in here for a shot at redemption? At best we get a good defensive OF who can hit 30 homers. At worst we cut him loose because the Mets will not be bound by his large deal. Sounds like the kind of low risk / high reward deal that Omar is know for making.

This would not necessarily take the Mets out of the Manny sweepstakes either. it would only give them more leverage. Also, if the Mets were to get Manny, they would then have a decent trading chip with Jones because whoever they would trade him to would not have to take on his brutal salary.
