i ddin;t mea respect in that he should just be handed 20 million a season, but the guy has been in the league for ever and is a proven #2 if no longer a #1, they should offer this contract to ollie... just because that is what he is worth, i think lowe is worth more the 3/36... he is definitely worth more what Burnett got...

Yea I get what you mean, but now that Lowe is practically in the bag, I think we should be focusing on Manny or Orlando Hudson. I happen to believe that Manny would bring a more positive impact on the team than Hudson. If the Wilpons REFUSE to sign Manny (which they are basically already doing) then go ahead and emphasize on Hudson. Yet it is still a bit silly to TOTALLY rule out Manny. And something should be done about C.

Oh, And Happy New Year Met Fans. May It Bring Us Joy and Contentness.

What people fail to understand about signing Manny is that the first time he strikes out it would be all over.

He would be like Heilman A-Rod and Marbury all rolled into one.

It would be the shortest honeymoon in sports.

<b>The Man Child is too fragile for New York.

i really dont mind a murphy/tatis platoon because i think murphy can really hit. the problem is we are stuck with castillo at second and we would have to give up too much to get molina. omar can't part with neise or parnell and i doubt he would trade martinez or flores either. manny is the best bat on the market by far and i really believe its most feasible to put him in left field, make murphy our infield utility man, a solid upgrade over an alex cora type (fingers crossed castillo goes down and he can play second), and have tatis as our pinch hitter. it solidifies our bench which would maybe help us tack on those runs we havent been scoring in the later innings. and manny really is the fifth bat we need.

The Union needs to sit down with Boras.
These guys have about 50 days til pitchers and catchers report and he's holding up the entire process. Sure a few top level guys get super rich, BUT the rest of the pack, who have to find homes, schools, etc are waiting and waiting to find out what team they will be playing for.
Too much power for one man...

not yet. There is still time, and other than Tex and Ibanez, not that much has happened with position players.

Seems like Omar was telling the truth that he wanted to deal with his 1st priority, pitching, well first!

I think the rest (being satisfied with the lineup) is partly true, but also blowing some smoke. I'm thinking there will be at least 1 big move coming to retool the lineup.

Might not be a Manny level move, and it will come after the rotation (Lowe) is dealt with. But could be interesting.

LF upgrade is an obvious possibility. But I hope he manages to pull off a move for C or 2B, which IMO are much more glaring weak spots. C mostly because 2B is so bad.

Maybe he can still snag Molina for not too much talent? Hey, he is saving money elsewhere!

all hypothetical of course, but if he added the RH power bat at C, LF should be fine (although I still want to see a better RH option than Tatis), and even 2B can be "hidden" temporarily.
