I’m a big fan of the MLB Network. Glad i finally splurged on the HDTV!

  2. metsaddict09 says:

Hot Stove Live is a great show so far

  3. dominicanboy08 says:

do you have to pay for the mlb network? I have calbevision and when I put the channel a message appear telling me that I should call them to get the channel, but it does not say wherever I have to pay or not. Can you guys inform about this?

    • The_Fonz says:

that’s strange. I have cablevision too and I get it for free. Channel 149 or 400, both have it for some reason.

    • Krodamet says:

thats strange do u have io

    • ThisIsTheYear says:

I believe that MLB Network (via CableVision/Optimum) is available to those who subscribe to the iO package. Channels 149 and 790 (HD) for me.

You won’t have it if you subscribe to Family Cable (which includes Broadcast Basic). And it doesn’t appear to be included with iO in Espanol.

So, it looks like you have to add the iO package to your current service (which costs $10.95 in my area).

    • PeterDragon says:

it’s include with io digital service.
if you have io it should be free-

  4. metsfan1 says:

Hopefully he has something good to report. I don’t like the fact we haven’t signed a pitcher or a LF.

  5. JMPLAYA92 says:

Good thing Minayas on there today yesterday Jimmy Rollins was on MLBN.

  8. dominicanboy08 says:

I just called cablevision and they told me I have to buy another package to get the MLB network. what package do you guys have? I want that channel…damn it!!!

    • dominican i got time warner and i gets it for free

    • zer09 says:

it should come with the family package just like MSG and SNY

    • The_Fonz says:

what do you have? I don’t have anything extravagent, just the basic cable channels. If you get Sny you should get this

      • popshobby says:

I live near Binghamton and have Time-Warner’s basic cable package. The company told me I would have to upgrade to the digital package to get the MLB channel. It’s an extra $3 a month.
This may drive me out of Time-Warner’s clutches and into the arms of a telecom-dish package.

    • docgoodens8ball says:

I had to purchase the sports package but it was only an extra $5 a month. I’m in Atlanta but it may be a similar thing up there. May be worth investigating.

So far, all it’ s been is painful reminders of failed efforts…much like Hosrshack!
Wish I cudda been Mr Kotter, cuz Ms Kotter was just peachy! Would have loved her at the xmas party as Ms Clause, Willie as the elf!
      More Johnnt Walker!

  10. harold reynolds looks happier on mlbtv thatn sny or is it me?

  11. k-mets says:

    dominicanboy08,
I know you can get it through family package and with the iO Box for the cablevision. I know that starting February, we will be needing boxes for all TV unless it is digital. I hope this answers your questions. I wonder if they will ask good questions to Minaya!

  12. J0eSmiTh says:

on sny he could only talk Mets. if your not a mets fan, its tough to just talk Mets. on MLBN he gets to talk all baseball

personally, reynolds is one of the best baseball guys who can breakdown the game. He alone will get me to watch MLBN for his insight.

    • The_Fonz says:

I agree, Since baseball tonight let him go, it was never the same..So far it looks like i’ll be watching MLBnetwork more and less of ESPN baseball tonight.

  13. steadyeddie says:

    Thomas Jones for President!
    At last, an honest man!

  14. Krodamet says:

    mlbnetwork is great

  15. Krodamet says:

    its channel 149 on IO

  16. Flushing_is_Burning says:

    Ugh! I hate Dish Network!!!!

  17. dominicanboy08 says:

this is very weird, I called them again and they told me they wil have it available in the summer…wtf.. the channel launched like 3 days ago.

I have a plan that includes more than 30 spanish channels, but I dont think that plan will block mlbnetwork, will it?

    • ThisIsTheYear says:

You may have gotten someone who wasn’t familiar with the new channel. I’d call again and ask for a supervisor. When I look at the website, I see it only under iO Package which costs $10.95 per month in my area.

  18. shea says:

Yeah. I have Time Warner and I don’t have the MLB channel either. It says to call and order it.

    I get SNY though.

  19. ilovenysports03 says:

So the Gauntlet has been set by Boras. 3 years 16 per. So as far as my negotiations go here is the counter offer. Lowe will be delighted with 16 for 3 years BUT Minaya will counter with hey AJ Burnett got 16.5 and Lowe does not have that stuff so here ya go. 15.5 for 3 years and I bet that will get it done. So you heard it here first 3 years 15 million. Good middle ground.

  20. ilovenysports03 says:

    Yeah 15 not 15.5.

  21. Chris02M says:

mets wont go up 3 .5 mil right away next offer will be 13-13.5

    • Hazmet says:

I think you nailed it with the 13.5M. Lowe also wants no less than 4 years, which ain’t happening. I’d be curious if they went 13.5, 14.5, 16 for 44 with a vesting option for year 4 at 16. Get’s Lowe a 16M number for 1 year and a total of 60 that he wants with the option.

Personally, as much as I want Lowe I’m getting tired of team Boras’s act and as much as I’m leary of Sheets injury history I’m starting to think a Sheets + Wolf or Redding or Garland path maybe the alternative.

  22. MudvilleNine says:

Have to give Omar credit. He uses a lot of words but always manages to say nothing

  23. MeesesGlokmah says:

Nice interview, I guess. Omar seemed to stutter a lot during it. I guess he has to be careful to say the right things, as to not upset some people.

  24. m29w_12789 says:

I think they will go to 14 for two and load up year 3 with incentives to make it 16 if he hits certain levels

  25. chico says:

For those of us who didn’t see it, did he say anything of interest?

    • Hazmet says:

Not really. I was surprised they dove right into Omar with discussing Lowe instead of breaking him in with the K-Rod and Putz moves. They doubled back to that after talking Lowe which Omar gave the pat answer of “there are a few quality starters out there to fill our position”. He mentioned Wolf by name as the balance vs. Lowe. What bothered me was he only mentioned the need for a starter not starter(s) of which I feel they need 2 as most of us have expressed. Granted, he can’t speak in terms of multiples without hurting his bargaining position so I’m nitpicking.

The only news worthy item was before Omar came on when they spoke to Heyman and he said Boras told the Mets the numbers $16M per year and they need to raise the number. As you’ve probably noticed some of our other blog mates have filled in the rest of the details on this part of the broadcast.

  26. Kalihan42 says:

With the current economy I could see the Mets giving him basically 15 per a year but the first year pretty low (closer to12 and the last year being something like 17 hoping that the economy improves in 3 years. They have to figure merch. and tix sales will be down this year with the housing crisis so my guess is we’ll see lots of top heavy contracts this off season for anyone not signing with a team that starts with “Y”.

  27. PeterDragon says:

until one more pitcher falls, mets feel they can go just as easily with Ollie (which I disagree on).
I do think Lowe will be a met but it will torture us for a while longer.

Curtis Maybin on the show, and I learned his dad is/was a big Met fan (He told curtis to get shea dirt at last game).

  28. cleonsvan says:

    Happy New Year y’all

    This van still be rockin
