Please say no to Pedro. Awful, awful, awful. It's nice and all to be sentimental and think of Petey when he was dialing it up to 98 and then making people like silly stupid with a 72mph change.

He's a junk baller now given that he has to throw breaking stuff just about every pitch. His control isn't even close to what it used to be either with the fastball. If he could still locate 90% of the time, he'd be OK but he can't.

Mix up his less than mediocre fastball, not so great location, and injury baggage and you have a nice neat pile of disaster.

It's not going to kill us to sign Lowe and Redding and Pedro and let Pedro and Redding battle it out for the 5th spot in spring training and if Niese has an inspired spring, you trade one of the veterans, hand the job to Niese. Then if he succeeds, you have a veteran starter in the organization to come in at the first sign of injury OR a long relief guy to keep the bullpen fresh. If Niese fails, you have your fallback position in place and still have a backup guy. Depth for our starting rotation needs to be more of a priority than it's been the past two years.

Please let Pedro go... he was good at the first signing and gave it all he had. Unless he is pitching for free - move on....

delgado addition by subtracton???

he hit .271 40 HR 115+ RBI

replace that with Nick Evans who might give you 12 HR and you have a team with around 85 wins at the most
