Maybe? Even if 5b doesn't apply (don't kill me if it doesn't) , all other points do, so I personally love it. I for one like the signing and this is why:

So I think the 5th starter is pretty important. That said, why sign a guy who was 10-11 last year, with a 4.95 ERA? What does this guy have that ANY mediocre pitcher that the Mets already have (ie Brandon Knight, Nelson Figueroa) or unproven prospect (Jon Niese) can't provide? I'm not saying that Niese, Knight, or Figgy is the answer...but I'm pretty certain that Redding isn't either.
