>1. When did people insinuate that the Wilpons chose players based on religion?

Read the quotes above mine

>2. When do newspapers or mainstream >blogs accuse Omar or catering to Latin >ballplayers? The only people who do that >are ignorant commenters.

Its been written in articles in the Daily News...the Post...Newsday...

>And those people REALLY bother you? Why >do you care? I bet Omar doesn’t give a ****.

Why do they bother me?

I guess because no one cries racism when the team is 90% white...but when its 50% white or 55% white...and 45 % latino...people come out the woodworks with the racist claims...

are hockey GM's racist because most of the squad is white?

are basketball GM's racist because most of the squad is black?

baseball is in a transition period...I would imagine basketball fans mightve been like this in the 60's too...I just figure we were past that already...

If the Mets are gonna be serious about this they need to make him a legitimate offer. I understand their reluctance to give a pitcher with his injury history total guarantees but he remains a quality pitcher who will absolutely help a team this year.....sign him.

Dude...whatever the team did with Appier was irrelevent. Different ownership, different GM, different team with different needs, and not to mention, the economic picture was the exact opposite it is today, as we were still riding the tech bubble in 2000.

Sheets should be the easiest decision that Omar and the Mets can make this offseason. Omar was able to sign K-Rod for very cheap, and steal JJ Putz from Seatle so far and now he has a chance to get one of the top pitchers in the sport for less than 10 mllion annualy??? Is this for real? Sheets should already be donning his Met jersey on the podium fielding questions from reporters. His only downside is injury risk. Without that he would be commanding much more than Burnett and Lowe money. Closer to CC Sabathia money would be more like it. He would have been signed by the Yanks already actually. Now he has to take a cheap deal and my guess is he will be out to prove he can stay healthy. We cant lose here! I say 2 years/20 mil guaranteed with 3rd year team option at 12 million. Incentives up to 3 million per based on innings and starts. Then go get Garland. He is a must since he is a 200 inning plus guaranteed guy that we need to back up Sheets in case of injury. Offer him 2 years at 7 million per. The best part for me is we get to say bye bye to Boras and Ollie.
