First of all, this "Huge Red Flag" of Dunn's RBI totals can be summed up in two words: Cincinatti Reds. After some tedious research (went to ESPN.com and typed in Adam Dunn, took 15 seconds), I was able to see that Dunn has only averaged 130 ABs/year with RISP.

On the other hand, Bobby Abreu has played for a team called the New York Yankees. Maybe you've heard of them. I could score 98 runs a year batting in the 2 hole for the Yankees. Not to mention, Abreu has averaged 175 abs with RISP over the last few years.

Runs and RBIs are bogus stats. Rally-killers and Clutch players are a myth.

I do agree that Abreu's OBP is mouth-watering, and we would love to have that on our team. But Dunn has a great OBP as well and a sizeable power advantage.

Either guy would be a phenomenal addition and I hope the Mets pull the trigger.

Here I am, getting all amped up over a cheap signing of Adam Dunn, a perennial 40 HR hitter, and a guy who is in the top 25 in OBP every single year.

Then I have to read this nonsense from Sal. Sal Pacino, you are a rally killer.

Why don't you try this exercise. Replace 35 random outs made by our LFer's last year with 35 homeruns. See what that does for the Mets overall record. That is the difference between the paltry 10 HR total and 330 obp our LF platoon put up last year and Adam Dunn.

We would have probably been sipping champagne in october.

Just because you don't understand the dynamics of OBP and avoiding outs, don't criticize people who do. Get a clue.

Wow, you need a trip to baseball reference .com....the Kingman comparison is crazy, but Hudson's career BA is .282, his career high in runs is 87, and career high in hits is 166....at age 31 after being hurt 2 years in a row he is all of a sudden going to vastly increase his numbers?

I know McLouth is a lefty bat, but he is a winning player. If the Mets get him I will be content with McLouth in right and a Murphy/Tatis platoon in left.

I am also very intrigued by Murphy and Church's potential but they really need another righthanded run producer. Castillo was a bad signing from day one. I screamed in my car when I heard it. He needs to be packaged with desirable pieces like Fernando/Niese to bring in a Carlos Lee or McLouth and get them to throw in a promising lefty reliever to the Mets. Murphy is the young outfield phenom the Mets can't trade, not Fernando. Church and Schneider may have to go, along with Kunz for a Bengie Molina.

There is no way the Mets would sign a strikeout machine like Dunn. Abreu is the opposite of Dunn, a high OBP guy. But I don't want an ex-phillie/yankee guy for 15 million a year. The Mets have very tradeable commodities in Fernando Martinez and Niese. They can look to obtain a Carlos Lee or Nate McLouth for a pair like that.

Manny Ramirez will be a media circus, not show up for games, have mysterious injuries, and physically attack any Met (Wright for example, that says boo to him about his lack of team commitment)

Manny is the one but the Wilpons are soft an stupid soooooo
Abreu is so much better than Dunn on offense its not even a discussion and more importantly is a better FIT for THIS team. Let Abreu hit for average and OBP and dont rely him heavily to be one of the power bats like the tools in Philly and the BX did and Abreu is real nice addition who would amplify the talent of Jose Reyes batting leadoff.

Ideally the METS need a righty bat and if it is going to be a lefty than let ot be a high OPB average guy than another lefty who K's like Dunn. No need to point out that Abreu is lefty also. I dont care what Dunn's #'s are, he is not clutch and K's like geese poop...not a good fit for this team at all and I cant even begin to wonder where thoughts of making this guy a #2 hitter originate from...thats ridiculous.

A lefty Dave Kingman? With his .302 career OBP? That is a bad comparison.
