Weekend is over. Time to move on from headcase Perez! Hope someone else signs him, and we sign Sheets and/or Manny instead.

MikePIazza31,

You should fact check the point you made. You said that Perez has gotten better and better over the 2.5 years we've had him. Not true. He regressed markedly in 2008 compared to 2007. Let him go somewhere else- Sign Manny.

Relly5s,

You're an idiot. I guess we'll just sign headcase Perez, and then print World Series tickets, will we? You're an idiot if you'd rather have a so-so pitcher over MANNY RAMIREZ if you could only choose one. It's not like Bob Gibson and Sandy Koufax are on the free agent market. My points are always very astute.

In Sporting News Magazine, Ryan Howard was asked which pitcher he would pay to not have to face, and his answer was Oliver Perez.

Here’s my hope: the deadline goes by, and the Mets move on to Randy Wolf, whom they sign to a one-year, $7 million contract with a $9 million option for 2010 and a $1 million buyout. Then, they open up the pocketbook for Manny, signing him to a three-year, $75 million deal. Meanwhile, Oliver Perez signs for three years, $27 million with the Dodgers, who give us the 17th pick in the draft.

Here’s my realistic hope: same scenario, except instead of Wolf the team signs Ben Sheets and another bat, like Bobby Abreu or Garrett Anderson (please no Adam Dunn; we don’t need any more rally-killers in this lineup).

Well I was trying to be realistic by not using his name (Manny that is) I really think the Coupon Family is stressing about the Money that Madoff took from them and the fact that CitiGroup is in hot water about the Jet and stadium naming rights. Screw the sign Manny rally we need to have a sell the team rally, We all got ripped off when Doubleday left the picture.

i'd rather have manny plus pedro than perez and any of our current left fielders.

if you can't upgrade the starting pitching than go and upgrade the offense with manny.

manny can help you every day where as perez can only help you every 5th day.
