They should at least match the Dodgers 1 year/25 million and see what happens. At least leave us feeling like they care. Delgado seems reasonably priced. Perhaps not the bargain at the beginning of the off-season, but still good. So this should keep his trade value nice. The Angels or Giants will probably be interested if he goes out on the market. It'd be nice to get back from prospects or good relievers. They always kept on saying addition by subtraction. Well, by subtracting Delgado, you open the door for new prospects and Manny. And while it may cost a draft pick to sign Manny, we can get that back next season, or the season after. At this point, a vesting option for 25 million on a 2nd year could probably get it done. They say they don't want to go over the 160 luxury tax. They said they don't want to exceed the 143 million at the end of last season. Well, if Manny signs for 25 million and Delgado goes, it's 146 million. Get me a time machine to October and tell the Wilpon's they could have Manny, K-Rod, Putz and re-signed Oliver Perez while only raising the payroll 3 million.
