Field today, for the first time since having off-season knee surgery, after which he’ll throw a bullpen session on Thursday, reports Bart Hubbuch in the New York Post.
Santana underwent surgery in October to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee. In December, he told reporters he will be ready for spring training.
Hubbuch also provides a few exclusive quotes from Santana, as well as other details from Tradition Field.
…by the way, hubbuch got himself an iPhone, so i look forward to seeing how he, and the other beat reporters, utilize new technology to report in real time on their blogs from spring training… should be exciting…

Yesterday, the Daily News said Santana plans to withdraw from the World Baseball Classic, ‘at the request of Mets officials.’
…the team has yet to release an official statement about santana’s involvement in the WBC, though i suspect they’ll say something once he throws this week… regardless, i think it’s been pretty clear for a while now that he would stay with the team and miss the tournament…
