“Daniel Murphy showed up all the veterans and several of his young counterparts by gliding through sprints this
morning like he was Usain Bolt or something,” writes Bart Hubbuch to his blog for the New York Post.
According to Hubbuch, ‘Murphy is in great shape and looks like he wishes the season would start yesterday.’
Hubbuch also blogs about when Francisco Rodriguez is expected in camp; the bond between JJ Putz, Sean Green and Jeremy Reed; and Jerry Manuel, who is expected to arrive on Thursday.
Lastly, in a post to his blog for Newsday, David Lennon provides a lengthy quote from Ryan Church, regarding Mike Francesa’s off-season statement that he was unhappy in New York City.
In short, Church says he loves New York, adding about Francesa, adding, “Everybody’s entitled to their own opinion and stuff like that, but I know what I said and what I didn’t say.”

If Murphy can have a year similiar to the end of last year that would be great.
He seems to be on track to burn himself out by September for the annual slide in the standings.
Hubbuch doesn’t read what he writes, so why should we?
He tries to make something between Putz & K-Rod about Putz being in camp early while K-Rod isn’t coming til the deadline, and then goes on to say that Putz’s wife is having a baby in 2 weeks so Putz will leave camp.
EARTH TO BART: Putz is getting his work in early, trying to get ahead of schedule, so that when he comes back after the baby is born, he’ll be even with everyone.
I hate reporters…
Good pickup. Bart is a snake and he is not to be trusted. He wrote that incredibally inaccurate article about Jerry Manuel stabbing Willie in the back last year.
Yep, he’s the worst. Supposedly the moved Mark Hale off the Mets beat because he wasn’t controversial enough.
i dislike most ofthe posts sports writers anyway – we all know sherman is a shill
murph there are three sides to every story – willies , the front offices (omar jeff and jerry) and the truth – in other words we will never know for sure
Weeeeeeeeeeee’llllllll remember Russsssssstttttttyyyyyyyyyy foreeevvvvverrrrr in New Yooooooooooorrrrkkkkkk.
thankyou johan ill give you your ten spot later lol
Church says he loves New York, adding about Francesa, adding, “Everybody’s entitled to their own opinion and stuff like that, but I know what I said and what I didn’t say.”
Yeah, ok
Are you Fat Francessa??? I mean, you can’t seriously actually think Church is lying about this?
Fatso has been known to say incorrect things
Stop feeding the troll
good call, my bad
this whole firefox issue has slowed my posting, but that one annoyed me…
no!! not the self proclaimed godfather of new york sports radio (wink wink)
Call me a typical negative Mets fan but why should I believe that Murphy is legit. His minor league stats aren’t overly impressive. He didn’t go to a top college program. Isn’t it possible that he is just another Victor Diaz?
Either he has just peaked as a player (which I hope is the case), he got hot for a month (Victor Diaz), or he is using steriods.
murph and the magic tones will be perenial star !!! you heard it here first !!
So i’m guessing your screen name refers to your own name being Murphy…
whats up dave ?
what does using steroids have to do with anything? Seriously, your other points are fair, but how does using steroids make you more patient at the plate? Murphy doesn’t have much power, which is what steroids give you, so what exactly is the point? You may be a typical negative Met fan, but you’re also a typical stupid Met fan.
blunt today darkstar – did mickey hart sell u some bad hydro?
So a guy has to hit homeruns to be on steriods?
No it doesn’t, but ti give you a patient approach and a solid eye at the plate has nothing to do with Murphy.
And you are being a typical met fan. If the guy wasn’t over-hyped he’s reached his ceiling. If he’s a big time prospect who’s name you’ve hear about, no immediate success and he’s a bust and should have been traded.
“It’s not even really worth going back and trying to backlash this guy or anything. That’s not the kind of person I am.
Obviously you are that kind of person since you are talking about it.
its called DEFENDING YOURSELF
my god..you hate Ryan Church don’t you?
mrose leave him be and mr sluggo will steamroll him
haha
oh nooo he’s gonna be mean to me !!!!
Honestly, I more or less can’t stand Fatcessa, but that Church quote was more or less jibber jabber.
um, he was asked about it, reporters need quotes so they ask guys about this kind of stuff, Church’s response was fine, but hey, you were there, so you know what happened, right?
good for you churchie just tel jabba the fatt to eat another yodel – (anyone notice the similarities between him and jabba the hutt? maddog even looked like jabba sidekick salicious crumb) :P
lol..but I still say there is facial resemblance between Jabba the Hutt and Castillo…you have to look really hard, but it is there….
u mean the yellow hepititis c eyes lol
brewers signed loop-er
good afternoon kiddies i thought i’d repost this mornings edition of ” this day in mets infamy with rusty” so lets get on with it
happy b-days go out to
Tom Veryzer (1953) – utility man supreme
Steve Springer (1961) – no idea
- cup o coffe with us i think in 07
Brian Daubach (1972) – he had cup o coffee with us i think in 07
Transactions:
New York Mets traded Randy Rogers and Stan Hough to the Houston Astros for Bruce Bochy on February 11, 1981. now the manager of them giants
New York Mets signed free agent Jay Bell on February 11, 2003. – and never seen since
New York Mets signed free agent Ricky Bottalico on February 11, 2004. like that was a good move HA !!
New York Mets signed free agent Tony Armas of the Pittsburgh Pirates on February 11, 2008. and to quote the girl from poltergeist heeeeeeeeee’s baaaaaack!!!
thankgoodness 2 days til pitchers and catchers
Nice work, though I’m pretty sure Rusty didn’t have any illegitimate kids ;)
neither did dave pallone lol
dwight gooded, darryl strawberry and 95 % of the nba – wellll thats another story lol
Hahaha!! No legitimate ones either for him…but I think he may have spent some time with some other people’s kids…what a lowlife he was…
pallone was gay and died of aids kong
Whoa! I did not know he died! Sorry for the tasteless comment…I was remembering things about him, but I never heard that he had died…thank you for the info and sorry for the tastelessness….
Rusty, I just looked it up, and I think he is very much alive…..check it out….
very rue he sued mlb cuz they fired him for having aids and coming out of the closet
That’s great about Murphy, but I would much rather have buried him behind Adam Dunn or Bobby Abreu. The last thing this team needs is commitment and desire!
When it’s May and Murphy is hitting .190 and playing shoddy defense in left (with Angel Pagan backing him up) I’ll make sure to bring up that statement again to you.
I wanted to sign Dunn or Abreu, but there is no chance in hizzell that Murphy’s BA will be that low…
i seriously think he might pleasently surprise us – i mean he was way more diciplined than magadan brogna and jefferies put together
But my point is that we have no idea how good this kid really is, and while he may turn out to be a very solid player, just throwing him out there with no plan B is extremely shortsighted. The Mets could’ve easily signed Abreu and then not have to rely so much on a virtual rookie. Omar can play this off as having confidence in the kid all he wants, but this is clearly a money issue.
i do agree 911 but i think the plan is that if the murph/ tatis platon fizzles then murphy gets sent down and valentin plays the of – i am pretty sure that if marlon anderson has a bad st and first couple of weeks of the season he’s as good as toast – dont forget valentin has played 1b 2b and the of for the mets
But can he play all those postitions well at 40?
who knows – alou played a decent lf didnt he – when not hurt lol
Go ahead…I wouldn’t cut a guy in MAY for struggling.
dave although i strongly disagree with you i cant argue with your point – but i mean how will we know what he is capable of if we dont give him the playing time against big leauge pitching?? on the other hand is what if they figure outhow to pitch to him – as heller once wrote “its a catch 22″
It’s not like Church and Abreu/Dunn would’ve played every day
when u have those egos – dunn and abreu – u know they will play everyday – or they will sulk and u will have a manny like situation on yer hands
No, what the team needs is to be committed,.
forgive me for missing this one, but robby alomar has full blown AIDS?
allegedly – he has not come out to disclose this and his father sandy denied knowing anything about it – if true it is a shame for all parties involved – along with their families
T
The smoking gun website has the full lawsuit on their site. It’s pretty detailed, hard to make that much detail up. I hope it isn’t true but according to the lawsuit, Alomar was in really bad shape two years ago. It states that he couldn’t even walk and was foaming at the mouth.
yeah i read that also – at least if he is infected that means he is getrting the right treatment cuz if he was like that 2 years ago without treatment he’d be dead right now – i read chuck panazzo’s (ba$$ist from styx) autobiography “the grand illusion” and he wrote he was close to death and a doctor perscribed him a a regimin of drugs and a diet 0- and he is very healty for a man with aids
yeah, just read the nydailynews article. what an awful story (if true)!
its kinda like the eazy e story – i might not of liked his image or his music – but i felt bad when he disclosed that he had aids and saddened when he died – i was deeply saddened when freddie mercury died
I love Daniel Murphy- And I’m patient.
agreed swirly
dmurph fanclub!
u know it !!! – I AM A MURPH TONE !!!
Count me in the Magic Tones, Murph!
Rusty–you will appreciate this—one of our newest publications is a chart for bands of the song Minnie the Moocher–done exactly as they did it in the Blues Brothers!
And is that Fran-cesspool a tool or what??
yes he is – is that the new ba$$ player with rocco from tower of power on it??i was wondering what donald “duck” dunn did on it
i <3 dmurph
i for one believe in the kid. && i will knock on everyone who smoked on this kid. mark it down. =]
hey agony whats with all the double ampersands??? u know the &&
you know what loll ill never know! loll bad habit!
oh ok didn’t know if that was yer gimmick lol – im surprised im the only one to pick up on it lol
I always thought it was his way of keeping his posts from being moderated. Guess i was wrong too.
making mental notes, so i can laugh at all these people who wanted abreu && dunn over a good farmhand. WHO WILL BLOSSOM.
Keith Hernandez never had a cocaine problem it is all lies
Keith loves dmurph, thats all i need to know =]
I know Keith loves Murphy
A-Rod says he was lying to himself and that is why he lied to 60 mins about steroids.
Well Keith was lying to himself as well. He convinced himself he used to do cocaine when he never did.
I mean Keith wants everyone to stop smoking ever see his commercials.
his perrogative – look im not a smoker but i feel the smoking ban is unconstitutional and draconian – but what are u gonna do
lol —- okkkkayy then
It is like David Lee Roth once said—Keith used to have a cocaine problem, but now he has enough money…..
lol inda like steve tyler snorting up most of bolivia lol
I know Murphy looked great at the plate but after a tremendous start he batted .249 in his last 50 AB and batted .217 the last 2 weeks of the season.
Thats a big cause for concern
you ignore the fact he didnt have a start for a bout a week. because of all the successive lefties we faced in a row. when he got a bulk of the starts he performed.
you give wright an 1 at bat a day for a week see if it doesnt affect his approach for a couple weeks after.
murphy started 10 of the last 14 games
&& he STILL got key hits in 2 cub games && in one game agaisnt florida. in 10 out 14 AFTER he didnt have a start in a week.
All players go through slumps. We wont know what this kid is about till ge gets alot of playing time. but from what we have seen, he does look like a keeper.
especially the effect it has on a rookie.
Well, he wasn’t going to hit .350 forever, probably just a slump. He destroyed pitching in the Arizona Fall League (granted, it’s a hitters’ league but he still raked). Would I have liked Omar to have brought in a stronger corner OF bat? Yes. I thought Murphy might have been better suited playing first or second base every day at AAA, ready to be called up when someone got hurt. But Omar seems to have a lot of faith in this kid, and I certainly like what I saw from him last year, so maybe he truly is ready. We’ll find out soon enough….
true but he does remind me of wade boggs and rod carew man
I love Murphy’s approach and also his attitude. My main concern is the lineup as currently constituted has what I consider four question marks/black holes (in the case of Schneider/Castillo). This team really needs Church and the Murphy/Tatis platoon to come through or they’ll struggle. Just don’t see them getting much out of Castillo or Schneider. Castillo was a fine player when he had tons of speed and could beat out his pathetic infield dribblers for hits. I’ll be pulling hard for those outfielders to make up the difference for second base and catcher, which is why I thought bringing in another established bat was a good idea. I’m still for signing Ray Durham to bring in another guy that can play second when Castillo inevitably falters/gets hurt. Still think the team needs a bit more offense, and no Jose Valentin doesn’t count….
Cant wait to find out.
Play Ball!!
high 5 nymetsfan718!!!
yeah, not even albert pujols has batted .220 for a week or 2 week span, or ted williams for that matter…never happened.
i hope kevin james does his “LETS GO METS LETSGOMETSLETSGOMETS” again.
i hope the sports illustrated cover model does while jumping up and down in a string bikini !!! :P
Oh man, you see that cover?
Good lord!
Yeah, Leonardo’s girlfriend is moderately attractive, no??
in my next life, im going to come back as leonardo decaprio.
i’d like to sniff his fingers – oops did i just say that lol
First Jisselle, now her!
LMAO @ Rusty
thanks 718 – i hope matt has the get togethers like last year – i will definitely attend
rusty, count me in,
i would like to put faces to these wacky names
if she has a opening i got a stiff proposition – HIIII HOOOO!!! lol
Looking into the crystal ball here is a look how everyone will do…
Jose Reyes will take big strides this year flirt with 100 SB but in the end fall short. He will win a Gold Glove and Increase his AVG, 3B and HR totals.
.323 .378 .494
20 3B
20 HR
93 SB (23 CS)
Luis Castillo will have a bounce back year but will not be very impressive. His defense will be addiquet but have some Errors that will effect some games. He will have a short stint on the disable list but come back steady. He will leave us with the feelingg at the end of the season that 2B could be improved, but if hes back in 2010 we can accept it
.277 .356 .425
1 HR
25 SB
David Wright will have a break out year but once again not get an MVP award. He will become the face of the francise and flirt with the Mets HR Record.
.330 .425 .694
41 HR
136 RBI
to be continued……
.
Geez, I sure like it so far!
I am looking forward to the KRod/JJ edition of these predictions….
leading the leauge in saves – predict k-rods era will be around 1.57 and putz will be like 2.01
JJ was SO awesome two years ago….I am trying not to get my hopes up, but if healthy, he can be a setup man like Mariano in 96 or Jeff Nelson in his best Yankee years…he is big, strong, throws smoke, and is fearless…I still predict he is a fan favorite very fast.
And the name will only endear him to everyone even more if he does as well as I think he can….
wow, i wish!
haha
There’s absolutely no way Castillo slugs .425. I think his career slugging percentage sits somewhere around .340 or .350 and that was when he was hitting .300 all the time. Still, I’d take the .277 and .356 OBP with the 25 steals….
most fans dont take reality into account…
no your right, optimism is such a horrible thing..
theres a difference between reality and optimism
come on those prodictions are comical.
Reyes .330 and 93 SB. thats not even possible
Believe me, I’m easily one of the more optimistic guys on here, it’s just not realistic to think a guy like Castillo is going to slug 80 points higher than his career average on bad knees…
lol
maybe his crystal ball is a litle blurry,
lmao i didnt mean about castillo, good lord
Actually, his career slugging is .355, but you get the point, he’s not going to slug over .400. Even if you gave Slappy the best roids in the universe, nothing could make that ugly swing he has from the left side generate any power.
let me guess: Delgado will hit 50 homers, Beltran will hit 40 homers and win a gold glove, and Murphy will have an .800 on base percentage
Beltran can hit 40 HR, and he probably will win gold glove.
If Delgado hits 35 this year it will help the team greatly, but he needs to hit a couple with men on base.
Delgao will have yet another breakout year with 63 HR 172 RBIs
Johan will have more breakout year and will win ALL of his starts… 34-0 0.67 ERA
Howard and Vicki test positive on steroid test and are suspended 50 games each…
Utley can’t get his elbow(?) to work properly and retires
Rollins gets traded to Cubs for Heilman and is demoted down to AAA
Hamels realizes that he really wants to pitch for the Mets and force the trade for Wagner..
More to come…..
Mets go 162-0, win division by 75 games….
lower the batting averages of both wright && reyes && your close
by the way guys anyone else got the sat plan?
so when are we starting the I<3DMURPH campaign?
In two days.
guys as per mlbtr
According to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports, the Blue Jays and Kevin Millar reached an agreement on a minor league deal. Millar, 37, hit .234/.323/.394 in 610 plate appearances for the Orioles last year. Rosenthal notes that Millar has been in the AL East since the Red Sox snagged him in February of ’03.
there goes another one
rusty,
there going to start dropping like flies, i dont think it matters cause Omar is done. So its just a matter of seeing where they land
Well he did say he was done with the major moves but wanted to add a righty bat for the bench and possibly another reliever. Ray Durham and Will Ohman/Joe Beimel and done….
Omar, get Ray Durham’s agent on line one…Oh wait, that’s me! I better get cracking….
loll right handed or not, did not want that dude on this team =P
And why not? Career line of .277, .352, .436. A switch hitter with almost identical numbers against lefties and righties? Sounds like a great late-game option and he’d be a perfect fill-in whenever Castillo, much more so than Cora or Valentin…I don’t know, I’ve always thought Durham was an underappreciated player. He’d immediately make this bench pretty strong, especially if Tatis keeps hitting or Marlon Anderson starts hitting (that would be a surprise)
In other words, Murphy is the fastest guy in camp?
this is optimistic
Reyes: .312 20 HR 75 SB
Castillo: .295 3 HR 25 SB
Beltran: .300 35 HR 125 RBI
Wright: .330 38 HR 130 RBI
Delgado: .280 35 HR 120 RBI
Church: .290 18 HR 75 RBI
Murphy: .300 15 HR 60 RBI
Schneider .265 10 HR 60 RBI
anything much more than that is completely unrealistic
OLEO! i love it
schneid wont drive in more then 40 tho =[
If Murphy and Church get have decent OBP, he surely would have the oppurtunity to though
you won me over with optimism! loll
see im loving this new movement on here!
BELIEVE!!!
Baseball season is fastly approaching.
Lets go Mets!!!
I’d take that in a heartbeat
I think Murphy can hit 20HRs if he plays full time
well he was only on pace for 6 HR last season…
true… good point actually…
so maybe not 20+ HRs..
Sorry I was wrong, I was under an enormous pressure when I logged on to this site to perform…. I’m just glad that the truth is out there….
I think that is overly optimistic…. if all that happens the Mets win the division by 7-10 games
you misunderstood
i didnt mean that all happening at the same time but the best that player will do…
I had to register for the site to tell some of you guys how much I hate you and your pessimistic attitudes. Murphy is young talent and is the future of the franchise. Fck manny and all the baggage that comes along with it. Let’s see what the Comeback Player of the Year and a rising STUD (yes i said STUD) will do in Left.
And under the circumstances that he was a one-year bust, there are plenty of players in contract years that we can trade for. The economy is only going to get worse, and teams that aren’t in major markets like NY are going to be looking to unload expensive players.
Welcome Murphy and let’s not throw him under the bus if he goes into a minor slump in June.
AND more importantly, shut the hell up about Manny, it’s not happening, it’s just wasting everyone’s time as we scroll over your ignorant posts.
Sign Manny!
you had me a STUD.
i <3 dmurph
I think pretty much everyone here has shut up about manny, your a few days late buddy
lmao thats why i stopped at murphy && didnt read further lmao
Welcome!!!!
the Mets have maybe 2 mil left to spend. thats it. Madoff took off with rest.
You get up every morning
From your alarm clock’s warning
Take the 8:15 into the city
There’s a whistle up above
And people pushin’, people shovin’
And the girls who try to look pretty
And if your train’s on time
You can get to work by nine
And start your slaving job to get your pay
If you ever get annoyed
Look at me I’m self-employed
I love to work at nothing all day
And I’ll be…
Taking care of business every day
Taking care of business every way
I’ve been taking care of business, it’s all mine
Taking care of business and working overtime
Work out
If it were easy as fishin’
You could be a musician
If you could make sounds loud or mellow
Get a second-hand guitar
Chances are you’ll go far
If you get in with the right bunch of fellows
People see you having fun
Just a-lying in the sun
Tell them that you like it this way
It’s the work that we avoid
And we’re all self-employed
We love to work at nothing all day
And we be…
Taking care of business every day
Is this a poem or a rap?
Its BTO?
Bachman Turner Overdrive, but why is this song in the Mets blog?
Bart Hubboch is mouth breathing Yankee fan
So where is Luis Castillo?
At the gym working out
you know, juicin’ or jerkin’ who knows =P
Not for nothing, but the guy could use some HGH for his knees.
he needs to add an extra inch to his left leg so he doesnt have that limp =]
LOL
sportsme32
noone is throwing Murphy under the bus but to expect him to repeat his performance from last season is asking way too much.
I expect him to bat around .280 with 12 HR in around 400-450 AB which for a 1st year player is a great start to a career…
optimism! love it!
In my comment earlier, you’ll find that I absolutely love Murphy and his approach/attitude. I’m just not completely sold on this lineup as currently constructed because they seem to be relying on too many unknowns. Is Church healthy enough to give you a good 140 games and if so, does he produce like he did the first two months of last year? Can Tatis and Murphy recreate the magic of last year? I’m actually more sold that Murphy can but let’s be honest, Tatis was pretty much out of the majors for a good part of five years. Can Castillo give you anything resembling his past production? And if he falters, can Cora? Will Schneider magically become a hitter after showing no signs of it throughout his career? A lineup can live with perhaps two or three rough spots if those guys are giving you great defense and as long as the other guys are holding their weight. But if you have four troublesome spots, you’ve got a problem. I’d like to think the Mets will only have two weak links (2B, C) but I’m not positive, which is why I said they should have brought in Abreu on a one-year deal….
to me its the pitching.
i am not happy about Oliver Perez being back. He choked away a huge game for us and he can’t pitch deep into games. He kills the bullpen and is more likely to throw a dud then a gem.
Yes he’s a 27 year old lefty with potential but I dont see him ever being better than he is right now. I see 2007 as more a fluke then anything…
Pelfrey was amazing last season but if he doesnt repeat then what else do we have to fall back on Maine? He’s always got some type of nagging injury and he doesnt pitch past 6 innings either.
Well, I agree with you there but it’s kind of which came first, the chicken or the egg argument in that if Omar upgraded the offense, the pitching questions wouldn’t be as magnified and vice versa. The bullpen, however, has been majorly upgraded (especially if they add another lefty like Ohman or Beimel) so that’ll be a help. I would have felt better if Lowe had been added, but not at the price and length of contract he ended up getting. I still can’t help but think the Mets might be a player (either starting pitcher or outfield bat) away from being an elite team….
well if Murphy and/or Church are not producing at the level we need them to a guy like Jermaine Dye would be a perfect move at the deadline.
he’d be at the end of his contract anyway so it should cost next to nothing to bring him in.
maybe Evans and a semi-decent pitching prospect if that much…
I’ve always liked Dye and I think he’d be a great addition to the lineup. Maybe Evans/Kunz and perhaps a lower-level guy could get it done. I’d like to see them hang on to Parnell, he’s got pretty good stuff. So any ideas what other bat they could bring in for the bench? I’ve mentioned Durham ad nauseum (just really like the guy) but Nomar might not be a bad choice either? I also wouldn’t mind giving Alou a look, but mainly to fill the Marlon Anderson/Julio Franco role of pinch-hitter. The guy can still hit in his sleep. If they did that, Anderson would be cut because you’d need more guys with versatility. But those are just three names off the top of my head….
Pretty minor point, and I apologize if you guys have discussed it earlier, but I just noticed that Tim Redding won’t have enough service time to become a free agent after ’09, so he’ll be a Met in 2010 too unless they non-tender him even though right now he’s just on a 1 year contract.
That’s a win-win for the Mets. If he has a nice year and makes strong contributions to the team’s success, you bring him back next year. If not, you non-tender him and look elsewhere….
Didn’t he sign as a FA?
Yes, he was arbitration eligible for the Nationals, but they non-tendered him, which the Mets can also do if they choose to after this season.
From current Mets lineup, who do you think was on that 104 name list?
I think Delgado has very good chance at being on that list
I’m actually more concerned about Piazza being on it, as he’s my favorite Met since the 80′s glory days. I’d hate to see it jeopardize his Hall of Fame chances, so let’s hope he’s not on there….
I think it is quite possible….
only hitters that would shock me are Beltran, Schneider, Wright
Beltran and Schneider would not shock me.. Beltran has a physique a lot like ARod.
Beltran is ultra-religious. I dont see him cheating…
It looks like ARod is ultra religious too.. LOL
Ramon Castro? Huge neck, often hurt, wild guess.
If that’s the case, Castro didn’t get the memo that you don’t inject the steroids directly into your cranium…..
For what it’s worth, Castro surely did not benefit from the stuff…
Did you ever hear Castro speak? This guy is Dikembe Mutombo of baseball
Yeah great voice. Plus I love that he sometimes comes to the plate to the “Darth Vader” theme music. In a nutshell, I love Castro’s intangibles, but he’s hurt too often and if the rumor of his being traded turns out to be true, I won’t miss him in any on-the-field context.
Do you thin Pedro might have been on juice?
Given that Pedro’s always been 160 pounds soaking wet, I would doubt it. I think his injury problems are more due to wear and tear on a pretty small physique to begin with…
Why don’t Omar invite Prior and Mulder to ST? they’ve got lots of upside and little downside..
Mulder should be looked out. Prior I believe is back with SD
Olney reports that Dunn signed $20mil contract
Prior has already been invited to Padres camp. Agree with you about Mulder, especially since the Mets have invited Elmer “Why Am I Still in Baseball” Dessens to camp, the very definition of a batting practice pitcher.
I agree with Mulder, he’s a lefty and still young. Def worth giving him a minor league contract
I wonder what John Maine got Jennifer Aniston for her birthday?
What??
Today is Jennifer Aniston’s birthday. If you google “John Maine Jennifer Aniston” you’ll see why I mention the two of them together.
Okay, I’d like everyone to order our question players (Castillo, Church, Delgado, Maine, Murphy, Pelfrey, Tatis) from most likely to least likely to succeed this year. My list would go Maine, Pelfrey, Murphy, Delgado, Church, Tatis, Castillo.
I pretty much agree with you. If I were to nitpick I might switch the order of Delgado and Murphy solely because Delgado has a track record. But baseball often surprises, so look for big things from Castillo (he said wishfully).
Nice question!
Pelfrey
Maine
Delgado/Murphy tie; (good, but not amazing, years for both)
Church
Castillo
Tatis
Delgado (I wrote him off long ago so I must make amends)
Pelfrey
Maine
Church
Murphy
Tatis
Castillo
