Tonight at 8 pm, I will take part in a one-hour, live chat with The Happy Recap, a lively Mets message-board community.
You must register with The Happy Recap to ask a question, otherwise I will post a link to a full transcript tomorrow.
Francisco Rodriguez threw his first bullpen session today.
Later, he reiterated to reporters that he believes, with the additions
Omar Minaya made this off-season, that the Mets are the team to beat in the National League.
…man, i really wish he would stop saying this… i love his confidence, but, seriously, dude, zip it…
Kevin Burkhardt will air his one-on-one interview with Rodriguez later tonight on SNY’s SportsNite.
Johan Santana threw 30 pitches in his first full-distance bullpen session, and said he feels ‘great.’
Jerry Manuel talked to reporters from a podium at Tradition Field, during which he touched on most of the same subjects he discussed yesterday, such as how his team needs to be less selfish.
Later, Livan Hernandez addressed reporters in the dugout and said he feels good, he is ready to go and will do whatever Omar Minaya asks him to do, be it serve as a starter or reliever.
According to a Adam Rubin of the Daily News, the Mets are unlikely to sign free-agent RHP Chad Cordero.
Rubin also provides detailed photos of Francisco Rodriguez in Mets gear, the day’s workouts and Johan Santana’s bullpen session, courtesy of photographer Howard Simmons.
Speaking of K-Rod, it appears his car had a dead battery today, as you can at Steve Popper’s blog for the Bergen Record.
Lastly, K-Rod is wearing red contact lenses, instead of his signature goggles, according to David Lennon of Newsday.
Kevin Burkhardt will air a one-on-one interview with Francisco Rodriguez on SportsNite, which airs tonight on SNY.
Michael Baron sent in the following photograph from the sidelines of Tradition Field in Port St. Lucie:
SNY’s Kevin Burkhardt sent in a text pointing out Johan Santana threw from full distance, from a mound, in only his third session of the spring.
Santana tossed 30 pitches, and said he feels ‘great.’
Burkhardt adds, “He is not 100 percent
yet, but it sure looked like he was testing it pretty good today.”
Santana says he has three more bullpen sessions, then he’ll throw a live batting practice before pitching in a game.
Burkhardt will have audio and video of Santana, as well as a one-on-one with Francisco Rodriguez, on SportsNite, which airs tonight on SNY.
