The Mets take on the Cardinals today at 1 pm in Tradition Field, which you can watch live on SNY.
Speaking of SNY, the network announced yesterday it will produce a post-game show following every Mets game
this season – including Mets games on Ch. 11, FOX and ESPN.
Additionally, ‘SNY also announced it will become the first Regional Sports Network in the country to implement the MVP sports enhancement system – a new in-game feature – that will allow SNY and its broadcasters to enhance the story of a game with post-production capabilities in real time.’
According to a press release, ‘SNY will incorporate five new features into its 2009 Mets telecasts – including the hyper-zoom entitled SNY Magnify, Flow Motion, Pitch Differential and speed and distance trackers.’

Wow. Keith’s going to have fun with that stuff! If he can figure out how to use it.
I yearn for the days of just listening to Bob, Lindsey and Ralph talk about the game instead of being distracted by all this other stuff. I really enjoy Gary, Keith and Ron but I could do without the extras. This is baseball, pure and simple, and one can enjoy it by watching and listening. We don’t need to be entertained by a side show. Plus, it will distract the annoucers while they try to figure out how to use the new equipment.
I totally agree. Just me let me watch the game. I don’t need a reality show.
Sounds great.
Man, I can’t wait for the season to start.
Cool. Post game shows even if the game isn’t on SNY….
Wonder if it will have the same impact on mlb.tv, since that’s the only way I will see anything from SNY (being out of market and not getting SNY network).
The mlb package does give you the games, so the in-game stuff should be there, but no pre or post game IIRC. But, it’s better than nothing.
Not sure if they will have the option of the home or road feed though (I know last year we only got 1 of them, but now I can’t remember which one!)
If you get the MLB.TV premium package, then you will get your choice of television feed (except for the games that involve a team that claim local rights to your area).
The premium version will also have a pause, fast forward and rewind feature (much like a DVR).
If you check MLB’s site, you can compare the features of the regular and premium packages.
man with gary/keith/ron i dont think there is a better broadcasting crew than SNY
I totally agree….and when I watch 5 minutes of a Yankee game, it makes me appreciate our guys even more!
yea man..i buy mlb extra innings so i get to hear(not by my choice) other broadcast stations and man…..people do not know how much we are spoiled and a blessing to have gary/keith/ron…
Yes sir, I agree! And I lived in Seattle in the 90s, and while their main guy Dave Niehaus was very good, the others were unreal….they would make comments like “OK, men on 2nd and 3rd, a base hit should score a run here…..”
kingman u wrote this before:
And while Livan is not exactly ideal, I do think that if he can go 7 innings and give up 5 runs, with our offense and pen, we will win a lot of his games”
ARE YOU SERIOUS??
with our offense i believe that is possible to score 5 runs…i guess it depends alot on who we are facing. I dont know about winning alot of those games but i wouldnt count us out of those either
i hope u right, i truly wish i got some of you guys optimism about our offense, and please dont’t mention this ST games, to me they don’t mean anything ok..
na the ST games dont really mean much..i am referring more to the games last year that we would score a ton of runs because we knew the bullpen was going to come in an give a few of them back. If we had that capability then, i dont see it diminishing going into next year…especially since castillo/church looks more healthy and fit. Remember alex we missed the playoffs by 3 games last year….our bullpen blew 29 games. We cut that in half and i believe our bullpen with jj and krod can do that…we cruz to the playoffs.
Yes alex, I sure was serious…..if Livan is healthy we should expect 6 or 7 innings and 4 or 5 runs allowed from him. Last year we scored basically exactly 5 runs a game (799 runs in 162 games).
What in the world is wrong with this thought?
Livan goes 6 or 7, our new pen holds on, and we have some 5–4 and 6–5 and 8–5 wins.
Sensible, no??
SNY should implant a camera in David Wright’s left eye and call it “WrightView.”
Sadly, I don’t think something like that is all that far off . . .
This is going to be really cool, I can’t wait!
Glad to hear they will always be doing a post game show, that’ll be really nice.
Kinda looking forward to the pitch tracking stuff, but other than that I could do without more bells and whistles.
That being said, I agree with the above posts about our broadcasting team. Gotta love these guys. After speding a year (in 2006) watching tons of games with Extra Innings and seeing all the other announcing teams, ours is well beyond most of them.
CBS uses the same technology to do their postgame football shows – they used it to do the controversial Santonio Holmes game winning catch vs the Ravens in week 16 – neat stuff.
Side note – I was just checking out the Phillies blog – beerleaguer or whatever – and i feel like i need to leave work and take a shower..ugh.
LETS GO METS.
Side note – I was just checking out the Phillies blog – beerleaguer or whatever – and i feel like i need to leave work and take a shower..ugh”
LOL, first of all why u seem disgusted and second of all what are you doing in the phillies blog??
well im sure he feels disgusted by the content on the phillies blog and second know thy enemy…i watched the braves 30 and 30 on sunday and they have a pretty stable rotation.
dirty,
not impressed or scare by the braves.. at all.. and second of all, know thy enemie?? please, in baseball there’s no such thing, is more like pray noone gets injure and have good season..
im not scared by them that much but the are not as weak as they were at the end of last season imo. Marlins are always a threat too. While i do believe the biggest threat to the mets are the phills you can never count out the marlins and braves making life difficult. That being said in order to have a good season, you have to know what your up against. I think MLB TV did an excellent job in reporting on the teams. Everyone prays for no injuries but the good teams know how to expose and capitolize on them.
I wasn’t really scared of the Braves last year either, but how well did we play against them? Those losses really hurt.
The marlins pitching staff will be the key for this upcoming season, to me they got a nasty 1-5.. NASTY young pitchers..
I agree alex…I fear the Phils first and then the Marlins…the Marlins have good young players EVERY year, and this year will be no diffferent.
the marlins are the sleeper in this division. The mets have got to find a way to beat teams like the braves/marlins/nationals ALL year..not just at the begining. Nova’s right those losses really hurt but then again the state of the team when we took those losses was not very good. I got a good feeling about this season and our chances.
I can’t wait to see how this looks – I just got a new HDTV for Christmas so I’m kinda pumped to see my first does of Mets in HD.
don’t mean to ruin the surprise for you man, but is SERIOUS!! you will think you at the game.. enjoy man..
Baseball games in HD look stunning. Unfortunately, I don’t live in NY, so I still have to watch the Mets on my computer.
You’ll enjoy it though…except the closeups of Beltran’s mole.
DUDE ME TOO…i just got a nice 1080p HDTV and football looked amazing(like i was almost drueling). I am super excited on seeing the mets in HD!! I cant wait!
Yeah, the first NBA game I saw on a big HDTV was unreal…it was like I was watching tiny little real guys run around in a box…incredible….
like seriously HDTV is the best thing EVER. I would say you are being deprived as a sports fan if you cant see a game in HD. I never really thought much of it until i actually got an HDTV, but ever since i got it…im not going back to digital again!!
I am really glad that SNY will FINALLY be doing post-game shows after EACH Mets game… when the games are on PIX or FOX they leave so quickly after the game is over its like: Yep, I’ll bet this Baseball audience just Cant Wait for the next Charles in Charge rerun…..
The downside is that we have to listen to 162 post game rants from Matt Yalloff. Nothing personal, but Yalloff is so amazingly dense he makes Fran Healy sound like a baseball god.
I thought Yalloff was gone and replaced by Cotter. No?
Nope. Yallofs gone, for Chris Carlin. Lee Mazilli’s gone for Bobby Ojeda.
It is interesting that SNY.TV hasn’t updated its web site.
Yallof’s gone and replace by Chris Carlin (from “Beer Money” and “Loud Mouths”)… Chris Cotter joined FOX Business Network.
If only I could get SNY in Norwich, CT.
I figured I’d have a shot when SNY signed the contract with the Big East.
Yup.. That’s a big “F-You” Comcast. Right in your direction.
Switch to DirecTV.
yay new toys!
lets go mets
I hope SNY doesn’t go overboard on some strange nuisances for the game. Just give us some good stats!
