I don't know what people determine to be a bust. Milledge was by no means a BUST. In his first full year in the Majors (530 AB's) hitting .270 14 HR 61RBI and 68 Runs with 24 SB seems to be a solid first showing for a Player who is turning 24 this year.

Even Carlos's Gomez .258 Average was a very good showing with the superior defense he added in CF for the Twins. People want every prospect to be a Star.

The problem with the Mets is they have rushed their players to the extent that they hit the Majors Very young, and if there is no immediate success they are considered Busts by us Fans.

Today was my first time checking out the Mets Minor League Blog done by Toby. Nice work indeed.
Looks like some deadend positions like catcher and 2B could very well be replaced by inhouse solutions in the future. Very incouraging news about Havens and Pena. Sure we will most likely have to have a stopgap at catcher and maybe ride out Castillo but there looks to be light at the end of the tunnel.
I know that most prospects don't work out, but the good news is that it is 2B and Catcher which are not traditionally strong offensively anyway. You don't have to find a star just a league average guy with potential.

I love it whenever you hear good things about prospects but as the saying goes
"Talk Is Cheap"

It's time we start seeing Minaya's farm system bear some All-Star fruit. Hopefully Pelfrey & Murphy can be the 1st with Fmart & Holt not far behind.

the only sure road to sustained success is keeping luis castillo on the roster. at some point or another, we need to start thinking about a contract extension. 2012 will be here before we know it.

I think almost all pitchers should be pegged as starters at a young age. It seems a lot easier to make them successful bullpen guys then vice versa. Plus, you can never have enough starting pitching in the system - whether it be for depth or for trades.
