Ryan Church was a late scratch from today’s lineup, writes Steve Popper
in a post to his blog for the Bergen Record.
According to Popper, Church was “hobbling around the clubhouse all morning with an ice pack attached to his right knee,” but said he was fine and just taking the day off.
Popper also provides a picture from Tim Redding’s successful bullpen session.

so…how will the Mets training staff mess this one up?
Umm, I don’t konw. The worst I could think of would be by hiring you as the PR guy.
he always looks like he is limping with those short steps he takes when he walks
WTF?
Ill just go ahead and express what everybody is already thinking: the whole team needs to have MRIs done, ASAP! And dont tell me there aren’t any MRIs available in Florida, Dr. Nichols has already demonstrated that to be an unsubstantiated rumor.
Oh no! The concussion is spreading!!
MRI is starting to sound like a dirty word.
Let me start by saying I love Metsblog. However, we are going to have to get used to more media than in the past. It is VERY normal for a guy to ice down a knee early in the season. Pitchers ice down their arm every day they pitch. Seriously. This stuff happen all the time in the past as well but there was no where to report it and no one cared.
Can’t wait for when we are arguing over why Manuel left Putz in to start the 9th instead of bringing in KROD. Instead of these non stories.
he’ll be fine, is like a weight lifter who stop for a couple of months and when come back that first week u lift weight the body hurts like hell..
And as any OF will tell you that if you have played more than 5 years your knees are all to hell and have to be iced any chance you get.
This would have never happened if he was in the WBC. Stupid Spring training….
//sarcasm//
Ha Ha…Good one! Guess Church won’t be pitching in the opener either. Come on April.
