what I can't undertsand is why anyone cares what the Met's *might* pay Pedro if they were to sign him?

It won't affect Mets in any way. Do you really think they won't have "payroll flexibility" mid-season if they need it?

the entire outfield is under paid [Beltran has some defered money IRCC which lowers his bease salary a chunk.] We pay peanuts for Wright and Reyes [which won;t be the case on their next contracts].

A few key spots an dpitching is where the money is spent on the Mets roster.

But again, why do we, as fans, care what the Mets offer Pedro? If you get 20-25 starts and 10-12 Wins out of Pedro and you pay 5 million, serisouly, what is wrong with that deal?

Could be me, but I am curious to see what you guys think.

Not if it's sitting in my driveway with a blown engine. It might be pretty to look at but that's about it.

Pedro isnt signing for that small of contract and the Mets know that.

This was just an attempt to appease the fans, nothing more and if on the odd change he did sign it, well there's your 5th starter and if not Livan has been outstanding this spring...

My gf asked me to take a look at her friend’s computer that was ripe with viruses, spyware, adware, etc. The computer was almost unsalvageable and very close to requiring a complete system recovery using the Disks supplied with the computer. This of course returns the computer to its virgin state and you lose everything on the computer. Now I don’t repair computers for a living but I have some basic knowledge of computers. That computer had “finallyfast” on it and that software did absolutely nothing but interestingly it was tagged as spyware by one of the anti-spyware programs I used to get rid of the garbage on the computer. If you’re interested and give me your e-mail address I’ll tell you what I did to clear her computer of all the garbage.

I was thinking the same thing about Livan and the possibility he might want to sign elsewhere if Pedro were signed, then it occured to me that the only teams that really have a need for his durable, but limited services aren't really contenders and Livan isn't getting any younger and he wants to WIN so I don't know that he would leave unless lured away by a crazy contract which I don't see happening! Put it this way if Pedro only warants a 2 million guaranteed contract after the clinic he put on in the WBC (ALBEIT AGAINST THE DUTCH), then Livan would have to be thinking geez, I'd be lucky to get half that on the market right now, and he already makes that with the Mets as long as he makes the roster. So what would be his incentive to leave?
As far as when the offer was made it doesn't say, but it infers that the offer was made very recently to Pedro.

It will be interesting if the sign Pedro and Livan continues to pitch well. If you are Livan and you will easily get a SP job SOMEWHERE then why agree to be longman? That's IF Livan can even be longman. I don't see any way he would go and hang out at AAA and wait on Pedro to get injured.
I have not read the actuall article. Does it say they made the offer today or could it have been made much earlier?
