Bart Hubbuch of the New York Post writes how the days of Luis Castillo batting leadoff have more than likely come to an end.
Jerry Manuel, as quoted by Hubbuch said, “I think with Jose not being as active as I would have liked him to be [in the WBC], I’ve got to slowly get him back going, to get him back going, I have to put him where he’s comfortable. And I think that [leadoff spot] is where he’s comfortable.”
…i like jerry’s creative, outside the box approach, but reyes should be batting leadoff because he should be batting leadoff, end of story…

In an article for the New York Post, Mark Hale notes that there seems to be conflicting stories about why Billy Wagner is not in camp.
According to Wagner, the organization told him not to come, while GM Omar Minaya stands by his story that this never happened.
“He had the option and he told me he’d rather stay at home”, Minaya explained.
Wagner did say that “there’s nothing I can do down there that I couldn’t do here”, and didn’t seem upset by the situation.
…i love how wagner was shut down because he was progressing ahead of schedule…i agree with treading lightly with pitchers who are recovering from tommy john surgery, but i can’t remember this ever happening before…
