Read: Glavine on Pedro

by Regis Courtemanche on March 22nd, 2009 at 12:06 pm

David Lennon at Newsday asks Tom Glavine about Pedro Martinez‘s recent comment that he would not accept a deal similar to Glavine’s incentive laden, $1 million contract.

Glavine replied that “you have to be mindful what the market is”, and that he didn’t want to become a burden to his team if he became injured.

On Thursday, Jon Heyman of SI.com reported that the Mets may have offered Martinez $1-2 million, plus incentives.

…i think tommy is right-on here, whoever spends $5 million on pedro is way overpaying…if heyman’s report is true, i’m glad the mets didn’t overextend themselves but atleast made a performance-based offer to pedro…

Metstradamus is relieved that K-Rod and his Venezuelan teammates have been eliminated from the World Baseball Classic, and portrays the stress that a pitcher’s arm undergoes.

Mike Silva of NY Baseball Digest asks if you will be watching Team USA take on Japan tonight in the WBC.

…i’ve watched a few innings here and there, but this is the first game i will watch the entirety of…i suppose i’m just surprised the USA advanced so far, and i’m anxious to see if they can make it to the championship…

…or maybe i’m just eager to see “meaningful” baseball finally…

Lastly, over at Newsday, new Long Island Ducks Manager Gary Carter gives his thoughts on the A-Rod situation.
