i got excited until i read he was released by Toronto… soooooo is he going to make the bullpen? Or is he a starter?

He’s 39 years old.

Nothing but filler.

You are downplaying the mutant factor…the guy played for years in HIROSHIMA! All that exposure to good-ole American uranium-235 has made this guy the Hulk of lefty relievers! Better than HGH!!!!

Nate W. March 30, 2009 at 8:25 pm

He is nothing until he gets on a mound. He got hurt early in camp and wasn’t really pitching yet.

I guess with all the lefty relievers they have let leave over the past few weeks they wanted another for AAA.

Toronto releasing him could turn out to be a mistake you never know.

erich31 March 30, 2009 at 8:25 pm

he would be the second lefty in the bullpen, but would start the year in triple A.

NYMetsTalk March 30, 2009 at 8:26 pm

oh btw the Dodgers signed Ohman

NYMetsTalk March 30, 2009 at 8:27 pm

minor league deal with 2nd yr option .. according to mlbtr

Sylar March 30, 2009 at 8:27 pm

Dodgers sign Ohman to minor league deal… then we sign this guy to a minor league deal…

Sorry if I sound like a broken clock, but I cannot see any logical reason why we couldn’t have just give Ohman a minor league deal.

Anywho, we are in serious trouble if we ever need to rely on this guy…..

Nate W. March 30, 2009 at 8:30 pm

The only reason its a minor league deal for Ohman is because he wont be ready for opening day. Once he is activated he will make a nice salary.

But I do agree, Omar should have signed him later in the winter. Unless he was looking for a 3 or 4 year deal.

Chris Alvino March 30, 2009 at 8:28 pm

I like Ohman. Too bad.

fongulalou March 30, 2009 at 8:33 pm

Well there ya go!
Theres your 2nd Lefty.
For all those so concered.
Both him and Ohman,no big deal.

NYMetsTalk March 30, 2009 at 8:37 pm

at least Ollie has been a rock tonight .. hopefully he can get 2 more outs and call it a tremendous outing!

bkfitz March 30, 2009 at 8:42 pm

Toronto has a VERY deep bullpen. Now if the Tigers released him, then you’d know he stinks.

Metfreak March 30, 2009 at 8:42 pm

The good Ollie showed up tonight lets hope we see more of him

So a Mets fan walks into a bar, and the bartender asks if he’s ever had deja vu. The Mets fan says, “Yeah, I went to mlbtraderumors, then I read Metsblog.”

HEYOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

Andrew March 30, 2009 at 9:53 pm

C’mon now, man. You’re talking about roughly an 18-minute difference between post times.

fongulalou March 30, 2009 at 9:32 pm

Wow! I think Matt just got pimp slapped.

The Slider March 30, 2009 at 9:33 pm

This guy sux. We all saw his video and commented on him back when it was first reported here that the Mets were interested in him. I guess that means we ain’t signing Will Ohman (has he already signed with somebody?)

nyj0126 March 30, 2009 at 10:40 pm

I read that Will Ohman signed with the Dodgers for a base salary of 1.35 million.

nyj0126 March 30, 2009 at 10:40 pm

Which is less than what we saved on Sanchez, so I guess Coupon was cheap.

nyj0126 March 30, 2009 at 10:45 pm

He has to be placed on the roster, at least a day, to earn the 1.35 million, just like Livan getting 1 million with us.

nyj0126 March 30, 2009 at 10:46 pm

He can opt out if he’s not called up by Apr 14, so the deal looks like it’ll work out for him. If he becomes a free agent again, maybe they’ll give him a second look.

thanks omar.
