On February 12th, I posted about my campaign to raise money this season for the American Cancer Society in honor of the five year anniversary of my father’s passing due to Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma.
For every home run the New York Mets hit this season, I will be donating $5 to the ACS.
I have already raised nearly $2,000, due mostly in part to members of the Metsblog community, and for that I am extremely grateful.
I have an overall goal of raising $5,000, but I can’t reach it alone.
Please help me ‘Knock Cancer Outta Here!,’ and reach my goal before season’s end on October 4th. All contributions go to the ACS and will help to fund cancer research.
All the details are on my ACS sponsored site, so please go there for more information.
Several of you have also asked how you can follow along with my campaign by donating various amounts of money for every Mets home run as well. If you are interested in doing so, even if it’s just 25 cents per homer, please email me at metsheads at yahoo dot com for more info.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and Let’s Go Mets!

Regis, this is awesome! Hope I get to pat you on the back soon in person.
hey Reg, i just gave ya 20 bucks for the cause…sorry, it’s the best that i can do FOR NOW…keep puttin this up every 3 weeks or so, i think people will need to be reminded..if everyone on here just donated something small, like 5 bucks, you can hit your goal..in addition to the HR donations…good luck! Non hodgkins is a real vicious thing to watch someone go thru….God Bless to all and of course, lets go mets! Hopefully, we get a 50 HR player this year!!! lol
A good cause that hits close to home for me, having just finished a chemo cycle for NHL last december (and crossing fingers it stays away).
Hey stick buddy, fingers crossed all over this site for you….my prayers and best wishes that it stays away.
And Regis, thanks again for publicizing this outstanding cause.
My thoughts and prayers for you too, stickguy.
Keep a positive outlook, that always does wonders. Just keep watching 09 Met baseball for some positive vibes!
This is a great idea, and I hope you do post again about it throughout the season. I made a donation.
I donated the proceeds from my Colt 45 commercial.
