The Florida Marlins got off to a fast start against Washington yesterday behind big offensive days from Emilio Bonifacio and Hanley Ramirez to double up the Nationals, 12-6.
Bonifacio went 4-for-5 with an inside-the-park home run, 3 stolen bases, and 4 runs scored. Ramirez did his best to keep pace, hitting a double and a grand slam while driving in 5.
Ricky Nolasco picked up the win. John Lannan took the loss.
Adam Dunn doubled, homered, and drove in 4 runs in his debut for Washington.
In other news, Florida’s Scott Proctor has been cleared to throw again. He’s targeting May 1 as his return date.
Later today, the Phillies and Jamie Moyer host the Braves and Jair Jurrjens at Citizens Bank Park; while the Nationals and Marlins go at it again in Florida. Washington’s Scott Olsen faces his former team, and Josh Johnson takes the hill for Florida.

Let’s Go Jair!
Scott Proctor has been cleared to throw again.
Somewhere Joe Torre is walking up some dugout steps.
this really stinks there’s no game tonight, I’m all pumped up for Mets baseballl, no need for a day off yet!
I agree whole-heartedly with that sentiment. Why not play a three-game series, then have the off-day Thursday? This never makes much sense, yet they do it every year it seems.
Verducci’s Year After Effect red flag list is out. Largest innings increase first, the order is:
Lester, Hamels, Billingsley, Lincecum, Kershaw, Eveland, Pelfrey, Danks, Jurrjens, Niese.
I was surprised to find Niese on there, I didn’t realize he pitched 40 2/3 more innings last season than the previous one. It will be “fun” to see how accurate Verducci is this year.
The game really has been wussified in the age of big money. Remember when guys like Seaver and Bert Blyleven would pitch 250 innings-plus all the time? I’m sure they had big increases from their minor-league days to the majors.
Adam Dunn. I will get sad and think what could have been if we had signed him. He would have put this team so far over the top. Instead we will all have to watch him mash pointlessly for the Nationals.
