Adam Dunn. I will get sad and think what could have been if we had signed him. He would have put this team so far over the top. Instead we will all have to watch him mash pointlessly for the Nationals.

I agree whole-heartedly with that sentiment. Why not play a three-game series, then have the off-day Thursday? This never makes much sense, yet they do it every year it seems.

The game really has been wussified in the age of big money. Remember when guys like Seaver and Bert Blyleven would pitch 250 innings-plus all the time? I'm sure they had big increases from their minor-league days to the majors.

Verducci's Year After Effect red flag list is out. Largest innings increase first, the order is:

Lester, Hamels, Billingsley, Lincecum, Kershaw, Eveland, Pelfrey, Danks, Jurrjens, Niese.

I was surprised to find Niese on there, I didn't realize he pitched 40 2/3 more innings last season than the previous one. It will be "fun" to see how accurate Verducci is this year.

Scott Proctor has been cleared to throw again.

Somewhere Joe Torre is walking up some dugout steps.
