Last night, in a win against the Reds, Frankie Rodriguez loaded the bases in the ninth inning, including two walks, but got a strike out and a pop out to close down the game.
Rodriguez later told reporters he was not his best tonight, adding, “Sometimes… you just have to fight through it.”
…in the days after the Mets signed rodriguez, Angels fans all told me he would be an adventure… to a man, they all said, most of his saves will give us panic, like John Franco, but, in the end, he gets it done… and you love him all the more for it when its over…
Jerry Manuel, on Rodriguez, speaking to reporters after the game:
“I’ve heard that he can get on a high-wire a little bit, but he always seems to figure his way off… I sat there and said, ‘Well, maybe this is a high-wire act. I can sit there and enjoy it, see if I can hang on here.’ I see he’s doing alright, but I’m not (laughing).”
According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Rodriguez is the third pitcher in team history to earn a save in each of his first two appearances.
Mets LHP Billy Wagner told Marty Noble of MLB.com he will be in Port St. Lucie next 
Tuesday in hopes of throwing from a mound.
Wagner had surgery in September to repair the MCL and flexor pronator muscle in his forearm.
According to the report, Wagner is aiming to return to the Mets by late July or August, adding, “I told Omar that everybody doubting me is my motivation… that, and getting a ring.”

…the Mets still quietly tell people September would be the earliest wagner could be back… of course, they could simply be managing expectations… i mean, if wagner is ready and shows up in august, it’s not like they’re going to tell him to go home… keep saying it, ‘Wagner, Putz and K-Rod.’…
