that is what i am thinking. if he has it together, to a lesser degree i think he could be trade bait, but with that salary it would be tough. that said, they are paying him anyway, so if he could bring something, they could more or less eat it.

even more though, i think there could be a use for the mets. it would be in that lesser role, but it could turn out to be a positive. only time will tell, but i remember him being so broken up about the injury i would love for him to come back and contribute, and i think so would he

I didn't say the team shouldn't expected they can't each individual game they play. What I said was, that we're fans, and we need to rationalize. Yes, going into every game, we should root and think we can win every game, but we all know no one ever win's every game. So, you set reasonable goals, and you try to exceed beyond that. You go for the sweep, but if you end up with 2 of 3, it's still a good series, especially on the road.

I know the deal wouldn't sound fully even, looking at it from a distance, but even if Wagner does come back in July, he's still an injury risk down the stretch. He'd give the Rays more insurace in the closer's role. They've actually been looking to move Bradford, because of his salary, but haven't had any biters because of the market. The reason I'd want Chad over him though would be because he's got a better psyche. Billy's turned more into a meltdown closer, but in a lesser role, he may thrive.

If Percival gets hurt again, or isn't that effective, I could see the Rays asking about him. Maybe they'd offer us Chad Bradford, who's due 3.6 million. The Mets could offer to pay everything beyond 3.6 million, in the same. Bradford's the kind of reliever we could use. He's more useful than O'Day. He's got postseason experience and did well as a Met. I still don't understand why Omar wanted two lefty middle relievers, three overall, going into '08. In '06, Oliver was a long reliever. It doesn't really matter if you got a lefty or righty long reliever. Re-signing Bradford, for the same contract, or neither, would have been a better option. There's a lot of different things the Mets could do with Wagner, if he's healthy and looking good come July though.

yeah, i mean it all depends on how things are at the time, but if he has his stuff you would have to think he could provide something. could be an interesting situation if he keeps his schedule.

Mixed feelings. On one hand, I think he really intensifies our middle relieving core, but at the same time, I don't know if he's got the mentality and guts to handle succeeding here. When I think of him, I think the same thing as I did with Armando Benitez. We're paying him a lot of money, and he has more to offer us than Feliciano, so we should get as much out of him as we can. Maybe we can use him as a trade chip, come the deadline, offering to pay most to all of his salary. Maybe we can combine that with Castillo, to get him off our hands. I don't think anyone would bite on that, but you never know.

I didn't expect a sweep, but I think 2 out of 3 is more than reasonable. Yeah, it's on the road, but those three Marlins wins did come against the Nats, before this game. Tip your hit to them, for winning again, but the bottom line is, we got to get tougher and win these tight ball games. What I'm afraid is, Johan gives us a really nice outing on Sunday, like 7 IP 1 ER 8 K, something like that, but we only score one run, and leave like 8 runners on. That'd bother me. I think Luis Castillo is much of the problem, and they need to grow a set and do something about it.

huh??, a proper winning mentality would be going into Florida thinking you could take all three games. I bet the Phillies think they could sweep any team at any time.
