The Mets will play the Padres at 7:10 pm tonight in what is the first-ever, regular-season game in Citi Field.
Tom Seaver will throw out the first pitch to Mike Piazza.
…i will be getting their super early, probably around 2 pm… i will be live blogging, through my Twitter feed, while trying to post pictures, as i wander around the new ballpark for the first time… i am beyond giddy…
…from what i can gather, the Left Field gate opens to fans at 4:40 pm, and the rest of the gates open at 5:40 pm…
SNY will be broadcasting live from a special set adjacent to the Jackie Robinson Rotunda, starting at 5 pm; and will feature a variety of guests, including Tom Seaver, John Franco and WFAN’s Boomer Esiason and Craig Carton.
If you are attending tonight’s game, read Caryn’s MetsGrrl.com, as she offers up some very important advice for navigating Citi Field.

In a post to Brooklyn Met Fan, Adam wonders why the Mets are opening their stadium with a night game, concluding, “I love the Mets, but sometimes I’m mystified by the decisions they make.”
…well, a) you may want to ask ESPN, and b) i think it’s unfair to ask the Padres to play a 4 pm game on Sunday in San Diego, then fly cross country to play a day game, with the time difference, 16 hours later… so, instead, it’s a night game…
…in other words, adam, the question isn’t, ‘Why are the Mets opening at night;’ the question should be, ‘Why are the Mets opening against a team, the Padres, coming from the west coast.’…

I hope the crowd warmly welcomes everybody…but unfortunately I'd bet that Sheffield and Perez get booed, possibly even Feliciano and O'Day
If Johan's home debut last year is any indication, Pelf may be getting boo'd off the mound in the 5th inning. We'll see.
Why would they boo Sheffield, he's not even had a chance to fail in a way that would make anyone boo yet. And why would anyone who knows the Nick Adenhart tragedy boo O'Day? Anyone who boos O'Day is completely out of touch with reality.
I was about to ask the same, Richie. Granted most fans opposed the acquisition, but Sheffield has yet to play a full game. I posed a similar question who would receive a negative reaction? The first two: Ollie and Castillo. Honestly, I hope no one on the Mets receives a negative reaction. However, since this is NY and expectations are high, something will give. I would like to give the players a chance before the boo birds make their case. But what do I know?
Booing O'Day would be insane, given this week's events. I bet there are a strong smattering of boos for Castillo, fewer boos, but they will be there for Perez, and maybe a weak smattering of boos for Sheff (people objecting to the signing, not liking him as a guy) and that's about it.
I agree. I think Met fans should put last year behind them and support this years team like a true Met fan. Imagine getting booed by thousands of fans. It wouldn't make you feel good and to do that to the guys who didn't come through last year may just put them in a funk right away and that's not what we want is it?
I should say: Easy win!
Go Mets!! I got to tour the new stadium last Thursday through the Fordham University Young Alumni Association and I have to say – ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!! I took tons of pictures (About 90) – field level, next to the dugout, below the Pepsi Porch, the bridge crossing, the Shake Shack, Empire Suites, The Bullpen Gate and the area leading to the Jackie Robinson Rotunda.
this is on the MLB this series should be against 1 of any of the teams that play east of the Mississippi River so it could be a day game with little travel for the opponent. Another reason this game is at 7 and not 1 is bc if it were at 1 it would be on at 10am in SD. Of course the Yankees open during the day and the Wilpons will continue to follow Bud's silly slotting system with the draft.
because i'm sure the Mets had complete control of this decision
way to compare this to something completely unrelated in the slotting system..
what did i say THIS IS ON THE MLB. Im mad that the wilpons will let selig do something like this to them yet they will still honor his stupid slotting system. guess i need to spell everything out for some people on this site.
According to MLB rules, a team cannot come in from the west coast and play a day game without an off day in between. The Mets wanted an off day tomorrow in case it rained today, so they were forced to play a night game today.
I don't understand the fascination of having the first game in a new stadium be a day game… someone enlighten me
I for one would have been upset if it was a day game… I wouldve missed it because of work… so woohoo for me! Sorry to everyone else who isnt happy about it.
I was about to say the same thing. I can now get home, sit down and truely enjoy the Home opener. Otherwise i'd be stunk in meetings today from 1-2:30 miss the first hour and a half of the game.
I perfer this to a 1 oclock game for an opener. It will truely let more fans watch at home, for those who didnt or can't attend.
I agree. I only get 10 vacation days a year and while I would have taken one to go to opening day, I'm very happy that I can go tonight without having to use one.
You would have to take into account the weather. While the weather is brisk if not cold during the day, imagine the weather/temperature at night. It's not fun. But, if I had a pair of tickets I wouldn't care. LOL
Also, it's about ratings… how many Mets fans can take off two Monday's in a row… tons of people want to be able to not alone be there, but watch it on TV
Have a freakin' fantastic time! It'll knock your socks off.
How about the fact that people work for a living and it's nice that they don't have to take a day off. I'm tired of these weekday day games. Kids aren't even out of school yet. Who are these games for? Senior citizens?
Im pretty happy its on at 7, now I can work a full day and still be able to watch the game. I'd hate to have to listen to the opening day of Citi Field on the radio at my desk or in the car…
What do you know? Johan throws Daniel Murphy under the bus. I see a trend here, threw David Wright under the bus last season with Wright's error that cost the Mets the game, now he's throwing Daniel Murphy under the bus, c'mon Johan, shut your mouth.
So I was on the road all day yesterday, and I've had a lot of work to do today so I may have missed something. Where did he throw Murph under the bus?
what did he say. Imo he tried his hardest NOT to throw murph under the bus as it was the easiest thing to do at that time.
Oh, he threw him under the bus. Can't find the direct quote right now, but Beningo and Roberts just read it, paraphrasing here, "Murphy dropping that ball cost us the game, it was the difference in the game as to why we lost." I'm just sick of those comments from him, sure he's amazing and he backs it up, but I was pissed he did the same to Wright last year and now to Murphy. Does he honestly think that Murphy isn't beside himself for costing them the game? Just as that drop was unacceptable, so are Johan's comments.
lol thats not paraphrasing thats saying what you said to begin with loll
If thats what he said than thats not cool…but he is not wrong either. It was not a difficult ball….murph was just lazy to it. Johan could not pick him up as he picked up castillo for his bill buckner impression in the 7th. It is not cool for him to throw him under the bus but johan did throw very well…
It's not paraphrasing? What are you talking about? Originally, I said he threw him under the bus, I didn't remember the exact quote, but to paraphrase… etc. etc.
Please see the exact quote below, thanks.
Exact quote:
""It was just one mistake that he made, [and it] cost us the whole ballgame" Johan Santana.
Really Johan? The "WHOLE" ballgame? You mean you didn't give up a hit to the 8th place hitter directly after that isn't part of the WHOLE game? You mean, the team getting no hit for almost 6 innings wasn't part of the WHOLE game?
well..did it not. JJ was on his game yesterday and had murphy come up with that routine play..there woud be no runs for the marlins to show. He is not lying imo. Im sure the media person asked him a direct question that he could not tip toe out of. Santana knows that he is going to be matched up with other teams aces or better pitchers so he cannot expect a whole lotta run support. That error played the differance as run support is not a guarentee. Put it this way, theres a better chance that murphy comes up with that play than there is the mets scorring on jj….
I don't disagree with the legitimacy of Johan's quote. The problem I have is you do not blast your teammates to the media, if you have something say, keep it in house. Can you imagine, the next time the Mets score 2 runs and Johan gives up a 3 run homerun, if Murphy told the press, "Johan giving up that three run blast is the WHOLE reason why we lost the game?" What Murphy would be saying would be the truth, should he say that and throw him teammate under his bus? Absolutely not. It does nothing beneficial for clubhouse chemistry, sorry.
i see…so what was the reporters question exactly? Im sure johan would not throw murph under the bus unless there was no way he could avoid that answer. I agree with you to keep things inhouse and not to the media tho….im just wondering what was the reporters question exactly….
So you'd rather not have Johan in the team?
well thanks for making it 100% clear it cost the Mets the whole game. They were getting no hit for 6 innings. They were able to get out of the inning with that catch. Murphy missed it and it lead to 2 runs.
So yes it was what cost them the WHOLE game. And what Johan is saying isn't throwing him under the bus. If he was was throwing him under the bus he would have said he shouldn't be out there in a close ball game or something like that. He said his mistake cost the ball game. He was speaking the truth. Don't take what Joe "the sky is falling" bedingo says to heart.
Ok, next time Johan gives up what turns out to be the "game-losing home run" someone on the Mets should tell the media, "Johan giving up that bomb was the WHOLE reason why we lost today," yep, cry to the media is how teammates should respond.
What is he supposed to say?
Hey he gave a good effort on a routine Fly ball. Or Well he missed what turned out to be the out that cost us the game but I shouldn't have been that position. Or Maybe if the offense scored some runs we wouldn't be in that position.
What was he supposed to say?
lol you beat me too it mark…that was going to be my next point. Im sure johan didnt offer up this quote willingly. Im sure the media gave him a question that he could not dodge and had to answer it the way he did.
Are you kidding me? Even if the question was, "what do you think about Murphy dropping that ball," don't tell me had no choice but to use the words, "COST-WHOLE-GAME." You can easily say, it was a mistake, simple as that. Take off the rose-colored glasses, he made a mistake saying those words to the media, move on now.
and i respectfully disagree. Dont know what "rose-colored glasses" your talking about…. I think people like you are making into a bigger deal than what it is. He gave a whole interview and you are going to attack the guy over 3 words…please. Murphy himself admitted to it. There is no surprise with what johan said but ifyou want to continue to be sensitive about it be my guest.
Agreed Sanchez. I coudn't have said it better myself.
Get the entire interview and listen to everything he said. Not just the sentence they printed. That's what the Newspaper wants you to do. Get fired up. I guarantee he said nothing that threw murphy under the bus.
Maybe he should've pulled Glavine stuff.. "Oh well, we lost… so what?"
yes – I like how Johan takes no responsibility for giving up a hit to the eighth place hitter – the game -winning run. however, if i were Johan i would've told Murphy – 'until you win a gold glove, if you fail to use two hands on a ball when I am on the mound again, you will be very sorry'
Johan has earned the right to throw anybody he wants under the bus. People better perform when he's on the mound, or else.
Shouldn't a true ace be able to pick up his teammate when he makes an error, though? Not trying to blame Santana, but credit for losing the game can go both ways. He did give up the winning hit.
Yes he did give up the winning hit, but if Murphy makes that catch, the inning was over. Therefore, both runs were unearned.
Is there a stat out there that keeps track of the unearned runs a position player helped cause? Something like a URA (Unearned Run Average)? Murphy would have his first two right there.
your right he takes no responsibility because that run on the bases should never have been there to being with and therefore there woudl not be a "game winnnig" run. While it was messed up if in fact johan threw murph under the bus, but he was not wrong. Murph cost them the game.
True enough. Hopefully Johan's teammates take it upon themselves to call him out, when he is the reason they lost "a WHOLE game," yet I'm willing to bet they won't, because that's not what good teammates do to each other.
Only a matter of time before some lemming picked up on what the flame speading media wanted them to. Give me a break. Two things, to keep in mind before you start unecessary BS – one, Johan had just thrown a great game and was probably emotional at the time, and two even though he speaks better english than most, it is still his second language and not his native tounge. Sometimes these guys say things that don't come out exactly the way they intended. Ugggghhhhhhhh.
First, we can see you're completely impartial here, "udontmesswjohan," right. Secondly, he was emotional at the time? Give me a break, the error occured 3 hours before he said what he did. And finally, "cost us the WHOLE game," can only be interpreted one way, regardless of what language you're speaking. He pitched a gem, but don't defend your boy for things he shouldn't be saying to the media. If Wagner made similar comments we'd be all over him for it, call it both ways here son.
Dude, he had just struck out 13 hitters, pitched a great game and lost. Forgive him for being a bit ornery (like most great pitchers are BTW). Murphman is a big boy and will bounce back from this, no need to coddle him like a teenager. There is a difference when your stud pitcher says something and when a hack closer like Wagner says something. I give Johan a little more leeway to speak his mind. In the end, the point is that there really is no reason to spread the flames on this and make a big deal out of it. P.S. when Wagner through the better part of the middle of the lineup and some of the pitching staff under the bus last year, I heard a lot more applause then criticism……
Johan also said 'it's not the first time we've had an error, it won't be the last. I'm sure he tried his very best and it just didn't work out.'
I wish whoever is starting these rumors wouldn't take one sentence out of context and run with it….
Gates dont open til 440? I have to change my plans…
The left field gates open at 4:40. Can people still walk around the whole stadium entering through that are? Will I still be able to get to the rotunda? I haven't been there obviously so if anybody has info about this (especially if you went to wither Red Sox game) I would greatly appreciate it.
you can get anywhere from anywhere.
Great. Thanks.
you can walk around, you wont be able to get into the rotunda
why you say that? Are they blocking it off from the inside?
I know this is a real shot in the dark but if there's any chance anyone has any extra tickets to tonights game please contact me at davidsloder@gmail.com. Thanks a lot
Seaver-Grote, Doc-Carter and Leiter -Piazza should all have been included in the first pitch ceremony!
Leiter??!!
I get where you are going here but um…no. If you need a Piazza contemporary, then Franco gets the call.
You're right Dave…I was torn between the 2 but Franco definitely has the richer history
Obviously Bill Price has not been to the new stadium. Anyone who has will know that the porch will have next to nil affect on HR's Anything that remotely touches the porch (which is a good 50 feet up) will easily be gone. There may be a one in a million shot that will be a towering fly ball that happens tom come STRAIGHT down at the track (you all know this NEVER happens) that may hit the porch when it shouldnt have. This overhang is not going to come into affect nearly as much (or at all) as some people seem to think it will. I've already sat under it. I was 6 rows back from the foul pole and the porch barely reached me.
What a lazy piece of reporting by Price. Church says that's the least of his worries and Price continues to say how it's going to be a problem.
How about, instead of just stating your opinion without ever having set foot on the field, doing a little research on how many times it was a problem in Tiger stadium?
It may or it may not be a problem but that article proves nothing.
eh dont really care about day or night….
Lets start off this new era at citi field with a win guys LGM!!
Agreed Dirty.
all this talk about Murphy using one hand to catch the ball is dizzying; i guess he's earned the right, or did i miss something?
why are some of my comments or other peoples comments disappearing…..
Spring training and the first 6 games were only a prelude. The new era begins tonight!
Love the fact it is a night game. A day at work on a Monday and then the Mets home opener at night. Perfect. Makes this day alot more bearable.Great point. I often wondered why people kept talking about the overhang. I mean basic physics would tell you this wont come into play. I actually wished it did hang over the field a little more where it would come into play once in a while. That in my opinion would have been a another nice little quirk.
love that its a night game as well. get to actually watch it instead of refreshing gameday every few minutes at work.
Of course you could look at Johan's commenst as throwing D Murph under the bus
I , on the other hand, think this being blown out of proportion (daily news mentioning it on the backpage) a bit as he was making the obvious statement that Murph himself agreed with.
I think if you ask Murph, based on how he handles himself and his business, would completely agree. Seems like an accountable guy.
FYI – I am not one to wear the orange and blue shades all the time. This is just how I perceived the whole situation.
prob should've replied to the convo mentioning this above – my bad sinc ethe comment is out of place
Can't wait for it to be the 25th so I can go to my first game at Citi Field. It's against the Nats, so there won't be anything to miss, so I can wander around and check the place out. ;-)
Let's hope Pelf comes up big tonight to open that stadium right!
i cant wait to go see the game tonight and see mike pelf pitch and lets go mets
A night game is much better. This way people who are at work can watch the game on TV as apposed to catching it on Gamecenter on CBS Sposrtsline or ESPN.
which is why its not the Mets' fault its MLBs fault which was the 1st sentence of my original post. Im curious, how many other teams have their home opener at night? other than Philly who had the opening game of the season in primetime.
a night game IS better .. i love night games..
I posted this earlier, but I think the thread is dead…..
Did you guys see the poor dude's (murphy) postgame interview? Looked pretty mad at himself, however he took it like a man and talked to the media. Murph, even though technically he isnt, really is just a ROOKIE. Didnt he only have 1 game at AAA before being called up?
We all wanted (myself included) wanted a youth movement, Omar brought it. Im not worried. The Braves started off strong against Phillie's ineffective starting pitching, however their bullpen is their biggest problem this year. Speaking of bullpens, the Phillies pen has pitched 24 innings already, their starters have pitched 29. Lets hope that trend continues!!!
The Marlins started off against the Nats and then played a great game against us that could have gone either way.
Basically there is no cause for alarm. We have gone through only ONE turn of the rotation. Santana looked awesome in his second start of the year, lets hope the rest of the guys can follow in his footsteps. LGM!
"Speaking of bullpens, the Phillies pen has pitched 24 innings already, their starters have pitched 29. Lets hope that trend continues!!! "
To be fair, our starters were having a hard time piching anywhere into the 6th until Livan came in, followed by Johan yesterday. Philly's starters will likely settle in and get better. Of course, there is the chance that Myers continues to revert to his old self, Hamels faces all sorts of WS-hagover in his arm, and the back end shows how lousy it really is. We'll see, though it's a nice trend so far. :)
I agree on Murphy, he's plenty mad at himself and seeing the kind of player he is this kind of play is going to be a fluke! That said, I totally agree with your (not panicing yet assesment!) It's only six games and who knows next time Johan is locked in a battle like that the other team will make the error! Point is the game could have gone either way with the pitching as it was!
just got my first tix for a game at citi. This Sunday against MILW, promenade box row 3, $21 each. (half price). As I suspected, prices will be similar to last year, with a buyers market in place except for the Yanks and perhaps the Phils. I plan on going to a bunch of games this year, and I doubt I will ever have to pay list price for any of them. If you feel the need to buy from the box office, be prepared to vastly overpay based on the current market. JMHO
I for one was disappointed that it was a night game because I have plans that I can't cancel. That said, I bet my case is atypical. I'd like to see all the big games played at night so that the most amount of fans can watch them not just the ultra-diehards and the unemployed.
I like how Matthew was complaining all spring how hard it was to get to opening day and not even he could get tickets for him and his dad but then he doesnt mention it for a while and now here he is getting to go to the game and get into the stadium early to take picture. I don't mind and it should be a perk of all the hard work you do here and for SNY, just don't pretend that you're a "normal fan" and in the same situation as us.
im a normal fan, im 16, and im going. matt does a great job for sny and the site, and should have special priveleges
well he did with castillos error in the 7th….
What? Castillo's error didn't led to a run?
OK, I thought I responded to this, so my comment must've been eaten by the void.
Anyway, I didn't know about the Castillo error cause I wasn't able to see or listen to the game yesterday. Thanks for the info, Dirty.
no problem dark..
this void issue is getting annoying though
Does anybody know if either MLB.tv or Extra Innings will carry the pregame ceremonies? Did they cover them on OD in Cinci? I only tuned in at gametime on that day.
ESPN is playing the game and the pregame ceremonies
Thanks…didn't think they'd do the pre-game stuff, but will keep an eye on it. I'd prefer SNY coverage via Extra Innings or MLB.tv, but that'll do. Thanks again.
FYI: My cable on-screen schedule shows EPN not starting coverage until 7pm NY time, so they won't have the pregame stuff – unless game time is more like 7:30p

I just love the hypocricy of my fellow Met fanatics.
Imagine if Lastings Millage had made the pee-wee
league error that the Golden Child Murphy made
yesterday,directly leading to a loss.
THIS is why (as I stated all winter) you dont
play guys out of position. Unfortunately,
Murphy's real position is DH.
Also, for all the posters/posts against
Manny, has he ever made an error like
the one yesterday, costing his team a
game?? The Phils have stumbled a little
out of the gate and we haven't taken
advantage. Each of the first 6 games
we're very winable yet a week in,
we sit at 3-3. I hope everyone remembers
yesterdays fiasco the next time one of
our RPs blows a gem by one of our
Starters and has as much forgiveness.
I hypocrisy here. I agree with you. Championship teams rarely have people "out of position". When you add that to no offense from 2b and Catcher, plus questions in the rotation…………..let's just say the bullpen has their work cut out for them.
Roughly on that topic, someone posted in here yesterday that Lastings Milledge would NOT have made that error, which shows that whoever made that post hasn't watched Lastings flail around helplessly in CF for the Nats.
I have stated in here previously that Murphy's defense is a liability and I hoped that with hard work this spring it would improve. Unfortunately it hasn't. My long term view of Murphy is that he hits well enough to be trade bait.
As far as sitting at 3-3 after a week, yes but it's 3-3 on the road, against two young, talented, up and coming teams. I'll take 3-3 on the road.
As far as Manny, why are we comparing a $20 mil 37 yo MVP All-Star to Murphy anyway? There's no comparison. Apples, meet oranges.
Also, we traded Milledge for Church who is an excellent OF, not Murphy.
I'm completely aware that Milledge was traded for Church and Schneider, not Murphy who was a 13th round amateur draft choice out of Jacksonville. I was simply responding to fong's post, in which he suggested that no one would take yesterday's error by Murphy in stride had it instead been made by Milledge.
Dude… you can't compare apples to oranges. A guy learning the outfield after being a 3rd basemen his whole life is different than a guy who came up as an OF. and that same guy making an error and dropping a ball is not the same as a relief pitcher blowing a save. OF are brought to play OF, Relief Pitchers are here to pitch, we have an infielder playing outfield… and he is doing a pretty damn good job so far if you ask me.
I think its great they did it at 7…people (like me) are out of work and do not want to miss the opener….
Exactly. It lets me get my work day in, hit the gym, and head to my favorite bar to have a few pints and watch the opener. I don't want to leave work early like I did last Monday.
I wish some of the people who constantly complain about prices and the secondary market would realize this! Well said!
Lately here a lot of the readers are in a bizarre crusade against Matt. Whether you are right or not, people, I suggest taking a step back and considering whether or not you really care about every little error.
Howie Rose addressed this on the radio yesterday. It's in the collective bargaining agreement that a team that when a team from the west coast is asked to play the following day in the east, it MUST be a night game. Honestly, to suggest that the Mets or the Wilpon's have any direct control over the schedule or the CBA is beyond naivee. get a clue.
Ah, ok, didn't know that. I'm working with partial info about the game as I wasn't able to watch or listen to it yesterday.
can someone remind me again why people had an issue with Seaver throwing to Piazza for the first pitch. I mean think about it, who the heck else are we really going to have throw out and catch the first pitch. Theya re the two best players in the franchise's history.
it would of been nice to see the 86 era recognized… someone said it before Seaver to Grote, Gooden to Carter & Leiter to Piazza would of been a good way to do it… on the flip side, I can't say I am upset with how they will do it… as a continuation from the closing of shea… its a classy move by the Mets who far to often don't do the right thing

I agree! One could make a case for Gooden or Carter or someone else and it wouldn't have been disappointing but Seaver is the team's all-time pitcher and Piazza is the team's all-time catcher.
I guess you're right. I'm just sitting there yesterday thinking about the game tonight and I'm like "wait why were people complaing about this again". Truth is, I think people just like to complain. Seaver to Piazza – nothing rong with that and like Fowler said above it's good symmetry.
I think the best idea came from brooklyn met fan who had an around the horn recognizing Mets History:
Therefore BMF proposes an “Around the Horn First Pitch” *footnote
• Seaver stands on mound and throws to Piazza behind plate
• Piazza catches the ball and fires it to third where David Wright receives it
• Wright then shoots it over to second base where Edgardo Alfonzo is standing
• Fonzie then turns and flips it to Keith Hernandez at first
• Keith then hands the ball to Eddie Kranepool who fires it across the diamond
• Jose Reyes snares it and tosses back to the mound
• Ron Darling catches it
• everyone meets on mound for an ovation and an iconic moment in Met history
There would be 5 decades of Met baseball represented including the past, present and future.
That would be fantastic.
Sorry….meant " no hypocrisy here"
so excited, leaving in about 3 hours for the game
im not following you fong….
"I just love the hypocricy of my fellow Met fanatics.
Imagine if Lastings Millage had made the pee-wee
league error that the Golden Child Murphy made
yesterday,directly leading to a loss. "
-ok….imagine what. We would give millage more crap because he is an outfielder his whole career. Murph is a converted infielder. No excuses as that was a routine play but still i dont get your point…..
"The Phils have stumbled a little
out of the gate and we haven't taken
advantage. Each of the first 6 games
we're very winable yet a week in,
we sit at 3-3"
-why are people soo obsessed with how the phillies do. Its not all about the phillies, its about how you play against the other teams in the league. I agree with you the last few games were winable but cannot really blame much in the way we lost. Cantu got a good hit off of a good pitch out of the zone. Yesterday game was decided on a error as both pitchers were going strong. The only loss that was no defending was ollie….
All in all, its 6 games into the season…people need to chill out. Your acting as if the marlins and atlanta are going to stay #1 and #2 respecivly all year….
Actually, I found metsgrrl's 'advice' pretty poor. But most times I visit that site..well..
Since when does a team make their own schedule? MLB does that with the occasional change by ESPN or FOX without consulting the team.
Since I don't drink anymore, I'm gonna put down a 6 pack of pulled pork sandwiches there tonight. That's how you stay warm… EAT A LOT OF HOT FATTY FOODS! And the food is gonna be great now. Oh, and there's gonna be a game too? AWESOME! LET'S GO METS!
Hahaha! I like that plan.
You'll see me in the TV SUCKASSS
All I can say is I'm jealous of all you lucky stiffs going to the game tonight – LOL.
Have fun, enjoy and LGM !!
I too am glad this is a night game. Be sure I'll be sitting back here at home, relaxing with no other distractions to catch every minute of it, including all the pre game hoopla.
Same here MF4D, I hope SNY will be broadcasting as much of the pre game stuff as possible.
I thought I read somewhere this morning that coverage on SNY would start at 5 or 5:30. My cable is listing it as 6pm. Either way, I'll tune in at 5 just to be sure.
This could be completely wrong, because I'm "remembering something I think I heard" on the radio yesterday, but I think that official pre game festivities start at 6:30pm. But definitely don't go by that, I can't prove it in any way.
Well that would really stink. I was hoping to catch some of the hoopla, especially, the announcing of each player on the 2009 NY Mets….
I apologize for lack of clarity, what I meant to say is I believe that bit where they announce the names of all the players and coaches as they stand along the 1B line is starting at 6:30, and then after that will be the Seaver to Piazza moment, followed by the actual game, but again I half-heard that on the radio yesterday at a point I wasn't really paying close attention, so don't bank on it.
O.K. thanks. Just heard a promo on SNY that 'extended' pre game coverage starts at 6pm tonight.
hey just dropping in to say Shea Stadium will always have a speacial place in my heart. However, I am looking foward to tonight and turning the page to hopefully a brighter and more successful future. I will be one of the fortunate ones to be there tonight. I am sure this will be an emotional and memorable night. For those going tonight, I hope you have a great time and a safe trip there and home.
LETS GO METS
I want to change my screen name to "from what I can gather"
Apparently it's an actual MLB rule that west coast teams coming to the east coast after just playing a game are required to play a night game
Effffffff Fred Wilpon. They closed the park & ride lot this morning and I was forced to park on the street……All this so he could maximize his $18 per parking spot profits. Totallt ridiculous.
I am so glad the opener is a night game. If it were in the day, I'd have to skip my classes for the 2nd week in a row……..
