Anyone hear about the Johan Drawstring bag night? Oh the hours I will NOT spend anxiously awaiting that give away

I'm going to that game. If the Shake Shack doesn't agree with me I can think of at least one or two uses for it.

This is getting really hard to watch. We've already lost more April games then the 86 Mets. But then again, those guys were winners. People come into our park, talk **** about our team, and our team just lays over and dies for them. Thats not tough. Thats not New York.

Yeah, great start! But please, as this continues can we focus the blame
where it belongs? On Omar! This is the SAME team which made history
by being the only one in HISTORY to blow leads of atleast 3 games 2
consecutive Septembers. Great BullPen improvements, but w/o a lead
      what good does it do?

Our team is just really not that good. That is all there is to it! Outside of Johan, and as pathetic as this sounds possibly Livan, our strating pitching is way to inconsistent. We fixed our pen but don't have anybody to get us their!! And can D Wright maybe get us an important RBI?? The most overrated player in the game right now!

"And can D Wright maybe get us an important RBI??"

You mean like in the opener when he turned a Padres 5-2 lead into a new ballgame with a three-run bomb? For shame, he hasn't been a difference maker in THREE DAYS now. Let's trade him!

        Apr 17, 2009, 2:33 am at 2:33 am #

12 strikeouts in 35 AB's and only 4 RBI's from our # 3 hitter?? He is trying to jack everything out. Move him back to the 5 hole and maybe he will come around. If not, hell yeah trade him. I would try to get an ace like R Halladay before D Wright loses all of his value! Johan and Hallady back to back, u kidding me. Only problem is Toronto is not dumb enuff to make that trade

Guess what buddy, u also did not have to take out a second mortgage to take your family to the ballgame back then!! If you don't like the heat, get the hell outta the kitchen

Quit your whining buddy, it's not citi's fault you don't make enough to get to an occassional game.
Why don't you do something called planning and save enough money to take your family to a game. That's what we did back in the "old days". We Saved Money. Wow what a concept.

What are you talking about? I was at the opener and I'm going to two this weekend. You don't like that I don't support your brilliant idea to trade David Wright, so why don't you stick to that argument for tonight? Oh, because it's INSANE, that's why.

i honestly think u can trace wright's "pull happy" approach to when hojo came aboard. he was a free swinging fence swinging pull hitter and its almost like wright is starting to look like him. in 06 and half of 07 wright was always going to right field. pitchers would NEVER pitch him away cause hed go w it and put in the rcf gap. now thats where they ALWAYS pitch him cause he is always pulling off. i understand hojo and wright are good friends btu sometimes baseball and friendship dont mix. someone has to get wright going back to right field. i know he batted .303 last year but wright isnt a .300 hitter, hes a .320 hitter. and he wont get back there till they have him driving thru the ball instead of pulling off like hes been doing.

      • NYM712
        Apr 17, 2009, 5:00 am at 5:00 am #

Again with this HoJo nonsense? Its not like Wright and HoJo just met last yr when Wright had his only bad season in the "clutch". They've known each other and HoJo has been his coach for years. Wright got things really going and went onto have his best season shortly after HoJo took over as hitting coach in 2007. He and HoJo also worked together in the minors when Wright was developing as a hitter and had his best minor league seasons- especially in 2004 where he really started to be viewed as an elite prospect. I highly doubt that HoJo is only now influencing Wright .

So it wasn't important when he hit the 3 run HR to tie up the game earlier this series? He's had all of 8 ABs with RISP.

I can't believe Jeff Wilpon said that their was no room in Citifield to honor the 69 or 86 Mets?? Awesome! By the way, anybody agree with me that Florida is gonna run away with this division? I know its still early but man they are really good!! Sketchy bullpen but starting pitching and lineup are really solid

    • Richie Ashburn
      Apr 17, 2009, 2:54 am at 2:54 am #

Why don't the wilpons buy their beloved dodgers move them to coney island and let us have an owner that wants the mets.

Bad defense. Can't "run away" with a division with bad defense.

    • MrMet05
      Apr 17, 2009, 4:39 am at 4:39 am #

their young pitching needs to hold up for a full season and their lineup is very all or nothing. their bullpen is sketchy at best and their defense is very weak all around the horn. they will def be around though. not a team to be taken lightly

i cant believe we just lost on that call. delgado took that ball 3 times in the count to make it 3-2 how can u call it a strike to end the game??????? man we are losing games in the most annoying fashion possible. errors, balks, and blown calls. im gonna throw my tv out my window if this keeps up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Charlie Woehr
      Apr 17, 2009, 2:35 am at 2:35 am #

Actually, we are losing games because our starters can't go past 5 innings w/out giving up at least 5 or more runs

There is nothing else to do in Baltimore or Cleveland. In NY not only are there many other things to do, but there is competition for the baseball dollar. San Fran you got me on.

damn does any1 feel my pain here? i no its jus april but damn where 4th and we got no pitching and we only have offensive only if its a good day..oh yea and im gettin tired of this orangaztion puttin WAY 2 much confidence in murphy i no hes a rookie but i rather have him pinch hit and have days off then ryan church..another reason why i think this team is struggling is cuz citi field freakin sucks its so big for no reason..if u havent noticed ive been seeing alot of hard hit balls that dont even leave the park god i miss shea so much i hate citi field the name the way it looks i cant stand watching the mets play there im also pissed off the stadium represents the dodgers no disrespect 2 jackie robinson we could of still kept the rotunda but cum on where not the dodgers where the mets i wuld be cool if citi field looked more like the polo grounds or a upgraded verison of shea if u gonna break down a stadium and make it 2 a parking lot might as well give it sum respect

i hope youre right about that cause i love wright. and if you are right, then hojo has to get him back going to right field. id like to switch beltran and wright in the lineup. i think the lineup would be more balanced

    • NYM712
      Apr 17, 2009, 5:19 am at 5:19 am #

I am right. I wouldn't switch Wright and Beltran at this point. Wright is most likely going to be the best OBP guy on the team this yr, you want that at the top of the lineup. And even if you are worried about the RISP stuff…Beltran's been getting plenty of opportunities where he is..more so than Wright, so I don't see the need to make a change.

Does anyone find it funny how Endy couldn't get 5 at bats the last two months of the season, and when he did he looked terrible.Since going to a new league he is tearing it up for Seattle? But then again talent evaluating and putting players in the best position to be successful isn't exactly the NY Mets strong suit.

    • RichieHebner
      Apr 17, 2009, 6:15 am at 6:15 am #

Endy's career history is short bursts of brilliance followed by long periods of accomplishing nothing. Enjoy his latest short burst. Remember all the "he plays too much he gets exposed talk?" Well right now he's getting exposed to the AL. His run will end soon enough.

where is Tatis..2008 Comeback Player of the Year, great spring..Mets brass has anointed Murph as the second coming after 140 major league at-bats and has thrown an above average veteran major league corner outfielder into a platoon with a washed-up 40yr old Sheff, while their most clutch player in 08(Tatis) collects splinters on the bench..platoon Murph with Tatis..at least when Tatis starts,Castillo can go back to batting 2nd and we'll have a stronger line-up..Murph hasn't earned this respect yet.

What's 9 divided by 162? 0.055, that's how much of the season is gone so far, 6 percent. I hope all of you "don't tell me it's April" types are judged so harshly on the first 6 percent of whatever you're trying to accomplish. I guess the division and wild card races have already been decided after 6 percent. Why play the rest?
