No one wants to get hurt because of all the money they make. The other side of the coin is that they also don't want to hurt their opponent for fear of reprisal. Also, players are too friendly with their opponents before, and even more despicably, during the game. Players used to hate their opponents during the game as much as the fans still do now. I feel like throwing up every time I see someone like Reyes laughing with an opposing runner at 2nd base. Then I want to give him a quick kick in his back side. This is something that is prevalent throughout the sports world, not just the Mets.. Money has overcome competitive spirit and the all out desire to win.
