The so-called "gangstas" in baseball went out when the big salaries came in. No one wants to get hurt because of all the money they make. The other side of the coin is that they also don't want to hurt their opponent for fear of reprisal. Also, players are too friendly with their opponents before, and even more despicably, during the game. Players used to hate their opponents during the game as much as the fans still do now. I feel like throwing up every time I see someone like Reyes laughing with an opposing runner at 2nd base. Then I want to give him a quick kick in his back side. This is something that is prevalent throughout the sports world, not just the Mets.. Money has overcome competitive spirit and the all out desire to win.

who cares about "gangsta" and bowling over catchers.

how about "fundamentals"

the mets lack them. let's keep this as simple as it is. there's no reason not to slide there. the end.

Why should anyone be surprised? Same bunch of losers with the same bunch of loser attitudes with the same boring manager with the same inept GM with the same incompetent owners. Meet the Mets!
Answers to problems:
Fire Omar
Replace Manuel with Wally Backman
Get rid of Castillo and put Murphy at 2nd
Put Wright somewhere else in the Batting Order
Trade Delgado and Maine or Perez (plus FMart) for someone who can actually pitch.
Put Evans at 1st base.
Dump Sheffield and Tatis.
Get Holliday from the As for LF.

There ya go.

Henry Kissinger once said of the PLO what he could very easily have said of the NY Mets: "They never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity."

This is the same type of thing that has been happening for 4 years. Underachieving team with zero heart and grit. Why do we continue to think that things will be different when we have the same group of core players? It's the same garbage year after year, with this year being no exception.

They'll make their run only to come up short once again. Bank on it.... Disgruntled and sick of this group of players...their pathetic with the King of pathetic Oliver Perez leading the charge. Signed to a long-term deal!! What a joke. Didn't want a winner like Lowe...theguy has won 3 decisive playoff/WS games. Perez? Perez? Total joke.

i agree, bench them if they make a mistake. make the players realize that sloppy baseball will not be tolerated. for example, manny acta for the nationals. the bullpen sucked and what does he do? he sends down 4 guys and brings up 4 guys at once. completely new bullpen and the past 2 games played well. of course you can't do that with position players but definitely bench them.

You know what else would be gangsta, and would have helped the Mets have 3 more wins??

Not dropping balls hit to you in the OF.

It's completely fair to get all over Beltran for his mistake last night, and you did so rightfully. But where's the angry criticism of the dropped balls and losses caused by them?

You should be fair in your attacks.
