That’s funny. Isn’t this quote coming from the same guy who’s going to “platoon” a .111 hitter(Sheffield) with a .333 hitter(Church)? Good way to end a 4 game losing streak, no? Hint to the manager: you’re supposed to put and keep players in the lineup who are performing well and you’re supposed to remove the ones who aren’t. Why does he seem to be doing the opposite? And where. pray tell, is he going to “find somebody” to replace any in the current rotation?

i hear you, dirty. sorry for all the confusion. i agree, you can’t base a season on 15 games, especially with the mediocrity of the rest of the division. there’s only one team above .500 in the nl east. i’m not saying things are going to be fine, but i’m not saying all is lost, either.

we will find out only by watching and rooting.

no problem charlie. We are cool. I just have a problem with people predicting the future on the mets based off 16 games and the way the other two seasons ended. Cubs fans have not won a championship for over 100 years and yet they still cheer their team on and have hope every season. Im just at a loss of words with the fan base sometimes.

so you tell me i am wasting your time in your first post and now you say to grow up and then say you are not attacking me. wow.

but, i’ll move on.

in my original post, i was referring to 2007 and 2008. now, i actually haven’t formed an opinion about this season yet. so, no, i am not referring to 2009 and yes, you have erroneously made that assumption. let that stand as final clarification. so, no, i don’t have to go and do something else because i know how the mets will finish 2009. i don’t.

i will grant you one thing: in looking back at my original comment, which i made while focusing on something else, i should have said, “…the true team comes out.” not the mets, but the team that is put together for that particularly season, which, again, let me make clear, is not 2009.

to answer your question about why i am here. i have been here everyday for four years. why? because i love the mets and found a place where i can read and discuss them any time i want, day or night. i suspect that’s why you are here, too.

now, can we put this behind us and get back to cordial commenting?

this dust up between you and i seems to have run its course and i’m sure there is some common ground we find to discuss the team in a less adversarial way.

ODALIS PEREZ is still out there. I say go get him. He’s a lefty and at least he would be decent and not walk the ballpark. Could slot into starting or long relief.

first of all GROW UP. What i said hardly classifies as an “attack”. I dont know how clearer i can get but i guess i will try. You said..

-Now lets disect that into sentances because apparently you dont understand what i am saying.

-i interpret that to mean you feel the mets will collapse as the season mantures as in you dont believe they will make the playoffs due to an unforseen sequence of events that lead to the mets missing the playoffs as what has happened the last two years. It would not be as shocking if it was the pirates/tampa/washington because franckly they are not expected to go to the playoffs. Alot of people think the mets are a playoff team, its fine you dont think so but to imply the same result will happen the last two years will happen this year is the reason i responded the way that i did. It was no attack but rather just like lil pelf who has still not answered my question…why are you here if you feel the same thing that happened the last two years will happen again. Now lets say thats not what you meant…lets look at the next sentance.

-I want to focus on “the true mets come out”. The sentance before it said the mets will collapse as the season matured. In this sentance you said a sample size of 162 as in 162 games. Since obviously the mets have not played 162 games yet this season you could only be refereing to the last two years in which the mets have collapsed in both of them. With that established i can only logically derive that what you mean by the “true mets come out” is that the mets are poised for the same thing to happenagain.

-In summary if i have deciphered your post correctly(and please correct me if i am wrong)..why are you here if you feel the mets will collapse again?

I think they’d have to try them one at a time. I don’t think either guy fixes the problem. We need consistency. I haven’t seen Holt’s numbers but Neise is getting killed in AAA. They can’t promote him with numbers like that.
