In yet another come-from-behind victory, the Philadelphia Phillies scored scored 6 runs in the bottom of the 8th inning to erase an 11-7 Washington lead and defeat the Nats, 13-11.
Ryan Howard hit one grand slam to pull the Phillies even in the 5th inning, and Raul Ibanez smacked another in the 8th inning to cap the Philadelphia comeback.
The two teams get back to work tonight with Washington’s John Lannan opposing the Phils Cole Hamels.
…How many times will the Phillies come back and pull out wins like this??!!!
In Atlanta, Rick Ankiel drove in 2 runs and Joel Pineiro scattered 7 hits over 6 2/3 innings to lead the Cardinals to a 3-2 win over the Braves.
Jair Jurrjens took the loss despite giving Atlanta another quality start.
Tonight, Kyle Lohse takes the mound to try to make it two in a row for the Cardinals while the Braves counter with Jo-Jo Reyes.
In other news…Atlanta starter Tom Glavine has decided to continue his rehab and put off retirement. He still hopes to strengthen his arm and come back from elbow and shoulder surgery.
Phillies reliever J.C. Romero has filed a law suit against the manufacturer and distributor of the supplement that caused him to fail a drug test last August.
Romero claims that the company did not include the drug androstenedione (which caused the positive test) on its list of ingredients.
Another Philadelphia reliever is also in the news. Closer Brad Lidge is suffering from inflammation in his right knee and is currently listed as day-to-day.
