Jose Reyes missed his fifth straight start last night.
Prior to the game, though he has swelling in both the right knee and calf, he told reporters he will not go on the disabled list.
Reyes will test himself on field before today’s game, and, according to Jerry Manuel, ‘He should be ready to go from here on out.’
…whatever… when he’s in the lineup, i’ll believe he’s ready…
…until then, i will continue to expect the worst…

i guess we got to wait on what the “DODGERS” medical staff say
no theres no conflict of interest there….
What? So this whole Reyes isn’t playing thing isn’t a benching for his poor base running? Hmm I wonder when all the conspiracy theorists will come out and aknowledge they were wrong?
Jose..Jose Jose Jose…..Jose!
So numb to the whole sitaution at this point. Hate to say it, but if he’s in he’s in! Why do the Mets take the life out of me lol
And I will continue to witness Mr. Matthew Cerrone ignore us. Good job making it big and forgetting the loyal readers that helped get you there! Douchebag.
Loyalty died many years ago!!
I love it Matt…keep ignoring everyone, develop amnesia when it comes to the ppl who joined your blog in the beginning, look out for your own interest and most importantly
Make that money!! Take that money!!
I still don’t think we will see him again till Friday night in Boston.
THE CONVERSATION IN THE MEDICAL ROOM WITH THE METS CRACK STAFF OF M.D.’S AND JOSE
JOSE: doc it when when I do this
DOCTOR : THEN DON’T DO THAT !
NEXT !
Professor Reyes is now Dr. Reyes
If Patrick Ewing can continue to make predictions then why can’t udontmesswiththejohan:
Reyes plays tonight goes 2-5 with two runs scored. Mets win going away tonight. So it has been written so it shall be!
QnsNative718,
What did you honestly expect? I now come here for the articles that aren’t skewed with his or anyone elses’ opinion and I used to enjoy the comment section, but its so tough to read now…
i just wish there was another place with such good info
hurts
You got that right, Joe. Mr. Matthew Cerrone has got what he wanted and figures it really doesnt behoove him to take the time out and address any concerns we have about this site. He’s got the endorsement. Screw the grunts.
udon’t:
I was one and I guess I was wrong. It seemed to me that first game was a benching as an error.
But I guess it is clear now that Jerry only benches Ryan Church for hitting too much (though now he has earned one) and Ramon Castro fro getting two hits off of Josh Johnson.
Mrose, I checked out the scout.com page the other day on the Mets. Not bad. Articles written by the old Metsonline.com guy. That was the Mets blog before there was Metsblog. The comment section there is great. Maybe some of us should start drifting and Matt would get the picture.
QnsNative718, do you have any idea how much time and effort has to go into running this blog let alone addressing every question asked by all of you yahoos?
Get over yourself, go make the effort Matt made to get this thing to where it is today and then come back and tell us how easy things are.
Hey, New Comments Forum Style! You suck!!!
mrose, youre right. Theres really no where else I can go. I scope the Mets.com msg boards every now and then but thats a joke.
I guess its like going to a sporting event. Hot dogs and beer will cost you an arm and a leg, but they figure… Hey, where else are you gonna go?
Tips on running a successful blog per the modern day Pied Piper Twitter site some seem so fond of….
Blogging Traps You Need To Avoid
- Neglecting the Comments Section
The opportunity to interact with your readers is one of the most important things which makes blogging special in the first place. Never make the mistake of neglecting the community you can build around your blog through the comments section, or you will definitely end up regretting your attitude down the road.
- Answer to comments
When you started blogging I am pretty sure that you got excited with the first few comments that arrived. You would even take the time to answer to each of them individually. That approach helps to create loyal readers and to build a community around them. Even if your blog is much more popular now, do not neglect the comments. At the very minimum you want to answer the people that post direct questions to you.
Wait a second…
Why bring him back already? Take it slow! Remember what happened with Church? Why the rush? I’d rather he sit out 2 weeks than to risk a worse injury. Gosh!
Who is working for this team?
Also, according to Mets.com, not the most brightest.
Check it out:

omg the sidebar has games behind instead of losses!!!
BEST PART OF MY METS NEWS READING TODAY
QnsNative, shoot me an email, i have an idea… m dot rose 1120 at gmail
I hope you can decipher that
i hear ya qns and i agree…but we still come here so..no reason really for matt to change anything….obviously it has not made us mad enough to boycott the site..we still come here and post about it…
espn breaking news…mets trade jose reyes and john maine to toronto for halladay and aaron hill!!!
@ Patrick:
Don’t get me wrong dude, I’m man enough to admit that I’m jealous of Matt cause he is living the dream, but I don’t begrudge his succes for one moment. He’s earned it for sure.
The only thing that is bothersome is that more than a few people have asked about it and there hasn’t been any response. If he would just inform us as to the reson for the change I think everyone would eventually move on.
lol, patrick, dont give me that. Mr. Matthew Cerrone has a staff of atleast 5. You mean to tell me they cant take the time out and address BLATANT issues with this blog?! Dont forget, WE ARE THE BLOOD OF THIS SITE. Without us, this site would be like any other of the random blogs you see with (0) comments listed after every article.
Its called responsibilites!
@Mets fans for Decades, those are great tips, but most blogs wish they had 5 or 6 comments in a given week, let alone a hundred per post, if you are asking Matt questions in the COMMENTS sections of the post you are going about it all the wrong way.
The Mets are bigger liars than Belichick when it comes to injuries, so they should save us the BS
funny amazin….
Patrick, something tells me people have tried emailing him
Breaking News: Mr. Bill is killed again…. ooohhhh nnoooooo!
@ Wanny:
Well at this point it doesn;t really matter. They need him back in the lineup post haste. B/W Beltran, Wright and Reyes, I think that anyone of those guys can carry the team until (if?) Delgado comes back.
Mrose. Shot you an email.
Patrick: I get the point. Just thought those tips were interesting.
Not asking for him to keep up with all the questions asked in the comment section. Several have commented they’ve emailed him. Doesn’t look like they’ve received responses to those inquiries either.
But….does anyone find it strange we spend half the day in there anymore discussing the format and the other half the actual content? It’s just, well – crazy.
sparkly unicorn—-actually, it has a HEADING that says “Games back” but if you check, the numbers below it are actually STILL for losses back! Incredible and comically sloppy, and it has been this way for a couple of days now.
Patrick, I used to post what you just did, but this is just not the case here—Matt could take less than 5 minutes to address an issue that affects many of his most loyal readers.
amazin, who plays SS?
and speaking of crazy…
amazin you certainly qualify. Like we don’t have enough to obsess over today……
haha good question down n dirty…how bout rey ordonez
First, I would just like to point out that this team may have played like garbage last night, but they are still within reach of first place. They have won the majority of their games over the past couple of weeks and have won games that they would have lost last year much like they did last night. So, let’s all breathe and wait for all of the dust to settle. Those Phillies fans can celebrate an injury here and a misplayed ball there, but in the end (and I think most of us feel this way), this team is certainly different than the ones we saw the past two years. Now let’s just hope there’s enough difference to help them wear some shiney new rings in the end. Or I think all of us might launch an assault on Citifield. Just kidding?
The effect being what? No matter what change is made to something like comments, a half dozen or more or going to hate it.
Lots of this has to with porting of servers, getting data to lineup properly, and keep in mind this is all free, you pay for nothing.
Scout.com makes you pay, go for it.
i certainly hope it’s not ramon martinez
hey qnz read # 23
MrMetkk3
while I agree, if the Mets dont bring in some players to compliment our “core” we are going nowhere…
why Omar refuses to do so I have no idea…
DND, LOL Ramon Martinez.
Actually pat you don’t have to pay to comment on the message board.
And I would be fine with paying a little to get a debate style format back like this site has had for every single day until recently.
OK amazin. But hey, after seeing the fine play at SS the last few days while Reyes was out, who needs him, right?
that was sarcasm, btw.
Instead of boycotting the site if you guys are upset at the comment format, why not anti-boycott it? Discuss things that are not Mets related. That will definitely get to him…. Semi-Passive Resistance – GO FOR IT…
On that note, anybody a huge fan of broccoli? It is NOT a bad side dish….
Oleo, I think he has tried at times. Church should have been a good role player. Krod and Putz for sure compliment our core. Maine does as well. It’s the hole in LF for the last 3 years that bothers me. The one that we have been trying to keep warm for a teenager instead of gettting a true LF.
Eli, interesting idea. We could just clog up his email so much that he has to change his email address.
Eli droppin some knowledge lol
Nah, that would take tons (he gets millions of it).
By the way, what’s the cure for toenail fungus? I’ve been looking everywhere. I thought now would be a good time to discuss it (See Post 47)….
I like steamed broccoli.
Vinegar
Ok still going back to my idea
Church and Green for Rauch and Tracy. I think it makes sense for both sides.
If Reyes really does have swelling in his jnee and calf still, I would feel a whole lot more comfortable if he went on the DL and let it heal fully, instead of rushing back and making it worse.
Part of ( a big part) the problem is having these guys in limbo, so they never make a viable move to replace them. Hence, you get this throwing guys at a position to fil lin.
They need to figure out the starting line up, and use it, and Omar needs to make roster changes to put an appropriate team together (25 guys even!).
And right now, that means if Reyes has to DL, call up a real SS. ANd get a freaking 1B that actually knows how to field the position!
And if they decide (proactively) that they will go with a learn on the job 1B, annoint him and play him every day. Instead of trying a new guy out every game.
Vinegar with steamed broccoli…. mmm….
Eli: hahahahahaha !
trs86
but Church was never really an everyday player in Washington. He had 530 AB in 07 and his next highest was 359 AB in 2008.
He’s fine for RF and batting 7th but then what about LF??
Wright, Reyes, Beltran, Delgado. they do their job very well for the most part. Its the other 4 starters that drag us down…its been that way since 06
I like broccoli in beef with broccoli. I think it’s #25 in my menu here.
Always need a hot sauce.
Has anyone tried the Blazin Berger at the Citi? Those jalapenos are HOT!
im sick and tired of these makeshift lineups, maybe our players will start to hit consistently if our lineup IS consistent. Once reyes gets back this should be our lineup:
1 Reyes SS
2 Church RF
3. Beltran CF
4. Sheffield LF
5. Wright 3B
6. Murphy 1B
7. Castro/Santos C
8.Castillo 2B
You guys have come to the wrong place if you want to discuss the Mets. Find a different blog. Even our leader couldn’t care less…..
My friend just lost his dog. We put up posters. Any other ideas?
Signed, Dogless
no vinegar for toenail fungus… if you want, you can toss in some broccoli too…
What does LF have to do with it Oleo? I am just saying Church is a good example of a role player if they would leave him the hell alone he would be a great role player in RF batting 7th. LF is the part that ticks me off the most. They have been holding that spot for a teenager for 4 years.
Beef and broccoli…. Yum! My brother eats it nightly. Citi Field Food? Hmm… that is Mets related but we’ll take it… No, haven’t had it it…. :) Lol
stickguy
the problem is WE HAVE NOONE IN THE MINORS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
every single guy in AA and AAA is hitting like under .230…its ridiculous.
for the infield we have Argenis Reyes, Jose Coronado and Jonathan Malo…take your pick!!!
@ stick
from your post to omar/manuels ears…
Imagine if FMart becomes a bust… what will the Mets do.
@ oleosmirf
what about ruben tejada…
Scooter, I think you are getting close
Reyes
Castillo
Beltran
Wright
Sheff LF
Tatis 1B
Church
Castro
Vinegar for Toenail Fungus? Sounds good to me. You must be a doctor of reason.
I wonder what Matt does when he reads the comment board…
Oh wait, he doesn’t.
TRS, at least Tracy can play the position. But man, he stinks with the bat, and I don’t know if they can afford a total black hole offensively, even if he fields like the 2nd coming of Mex.
Rauch also seems to be pretty well shot.
Honestly, other than giving us a more stable glove at 1B, it seems to be a downgrade on both parts, and will be expensive (eating into the money available for other moves).
I would just as soon call up Nick Evans to play every day!
@ DownNDirtyJohan
well..omar will DEFINATLY get fired.
Oleo, not true, Fmart and Ramon were both hitting well.
dnd
where do they sell the blazin burger?
RSS 2.0 You can skip to the end and leave a response. Pinging is currently not allowed.
Does “Pinging” mean responding to the commenters?
When you take a douche and wipe, do you look at it? or just throw it away?
Dirtysanchez
Reuben Tejada batting .241 with 0 HR 11 RBI in 136 AB in AA…
Stick I can’t think that someone like Rauch went from that to shot so quickly. Maybe he returns to form. But it is Green he is replacing. And Tracy is not a bad hitter. He is not hitting well this year but in the 7 spot not so bad.
Reyes
Castillo
Beltran
Wright
Sheff
Tatis
Tracy
Castro
Is not a bad lineup.
derx,
I have blazin berger at one of the hamberger stand. I don’t remember which one. But it was good.
Funny thing is they ran out of fries and everyone was waiting for it. there were plenty of bergers and hotdogs though.
Patrick, you honestly think he doesn’t have enough time to fix something as stupid as the comments section back to something that previously existed for years. He has time to tweet about coffee cake though. Maybe less tweeting and more tweaking is in order

When you take a douche and wipe, do you look at it? or just throw it away?
-Is that a reference to the blog leader? Ouch.
So he’s not hitting under .230 Oleo. LOL.
Anyway there are some players hitting ok.
dirty,
is FMart drafted by Omar?
What they need is consistancy as many people have said here
If murph is not going to play, just send his ass down to the minors for fielding work…
Eli,
if you say so…
Good Call Stache. Totally agree….
DND, signed yes. International FA.
@ DownNDirtyJohan
yep
trs
Ramon Martinez and Pagan were there for like a week so I dont count them.
the only guys hitting well are F. Martinez and Jesus Feliciano. The 3rd best hitter is Argenis Reyes…enough said…
Dirty, completely agree. Tatis, Sheff and Church should be starting every day right now. When Sheff falls apart then you can bring Muprhy back up.
I would ask “What do you guys think the biggest mistake Omar ever made was?”
But I’m more interested in discussing Lacrosse. How do they get the nets to be so strong? I admire.
(See Post 47 to join the anti-discussion)
so.. FMart is kinda like little pet project for Omar. Hmmm…
Oleo, good point on Awful Reyes. But how much can you judge by those stats? Elmer Fud has an ERA below 1.00.
i got to admit that i am usually a very optimistic met fan…and i still believe in the this team…but last night really hurt….someone needs to get in these players faces and let them have it and i mean all of them…not one guy out there is exempt from this….plus infield and out field practice everyday…even if it is just simulated….let bust out the flashcards to test them on the plane/buses in between games and series!!!! they need to be treated as though they are good athletes who dont know the rules to the game that they play…oh and fines….large ones when you dont run out a ball…..garbage is the only word for them today!!! JUST PLAIN GARBARGE!!!!!!
DND, where have you been man? Fmart IS Omar’s legacy. If he fails then that’s lights out for Omar. There have been so many players not signed and so many players not traded for all because of Fmart.
so what do you guys think about the Rangers are going to do this offseason.
i’d love to get rid of Gomez and Redden but they have worse contracts than Luis Castillo and Bobby Bonilla
The blazin’ burger at Citifield is heavenly.. I got one on the main concourse I believe, behind home plate…
trs,
so is it very unlikely that FMart gets traded?
Last season Evans and Murphy were called up essentially from AA (Murphy got one game in AAA, I think) where Thole, Duda (1B) and Shawn Bowman are all hitting respectably (though Duda with no pop and Bowman with little OBP).
Did you guys know that Mets are the only team with a winning record at home in NL East?
Yes… Yes… that is off topic! The Rangers…
Let’s go further…
I do wonder what the Texas Rangers will do in the offseason…. Hmm…. Trade Hamilton for young pitching?
DND, it’s 100 percent unlikely he gets traded unless he flops once called up. He would have already been traded if he was going to be.
Francesa is going nuts about the Mets… gotta love it.
Murphy has played 200 at 3rd base and 13 times at 1st base….. in the minors…
but forget that, what you guys have for breakfast? (see post 47 all you newcomers)
TRS, you certainly like Tracy!
anyway, his numbers a demotion level horrible this year, were dismal last year (think way worse than Schnieder level), but were OK in 2007. Not a good trend ther…
and based on ABs, it looks like he might be a platoon guy (making the numbers even worse), unless he has spent time in AAA or on the DL.
Who knows, maybe he really is a talent that just needs some regular PT to bust out, but at this piont, I think an established hitter like Huff is a better way to go (depending on cost).
well Murphy’s stone hands are exactly what we need at 1B.
why dont we move him to SS while we’re at it. I bet he tries super hard to learn the position…
I don’t know if this is crazy or not, but if Jose were to be out for an extended period of time (or not), how would it be to have Wright play SS? I believe he grew up playing that position, although it’s obviously been a while. Then Murphy could play 3B…
Again, and Hit the Weights Zeile can probably attest to this as he was my other big supporter, why the hell didn’t we sign Dunn again? Placekeepers for a warm teenage body instead of a legitimate LF. LF on this team outside of Floyd and Gilkey for one season have been a complete and utter disgrace for the past 10 years. There is no excuse for that given the Mets funds.
No Excuse.
Other than Murphy’s slip and fllas earlier in the season, can anyone really point to any defensive miscues on his part in LF (other than the obvious drop, which Church and Sheffield are also both guity of).
If youj don’t like the defense you’re getting in LF now, you wouldn’t like what you were getting from Dunn either.
for 101
Lifelong Met fan,but been in Dallas for 20+ yrs. The Rangers are actually FUN to watch. A lot of young talent that play the game the right way, unlike an unnamed club from the NL.
Anyway, they have an abundance of young sluggers that play 1B in addition to Hank Blalock who’s rotting at DH. Justin Smoke, last years #1 supposed to be better than Chris Davis not to mention Salty. Also have 3 ML- ready catchers under 25.
Do you honestly think Wright’s arm is going to improve throwing from the hole? But hey even if it does, lets move our franchise player GG(warranted or not) 3b to SS for a temporary absence for a player an abysmal minor league fielding percentage let alone UZR.
Wanny
#1 Murphy doesn’t hit for enough power to be considered a good LF for a good baseball team that had the chance to sign dunn or abreu for $6-12M
#2 I don’t think Murphy is terrible in the OF. Dunn is slow in LF but we have Beltran in CF. Dunn never gets to that ball last night, with Beltran catching it with ease. I know bad example, but without checking the stats I bet Dunn’s bat is worth more wins than his defense costs in wins. I could definitely be wrong, but unfortunately I am not the greatest with the whole sabermetrics thing.
And I was much more intersted in Dunn as a long term 1b option, who could have slotted in right now just fine. I preferred Dunn to Delgado before the option was renewed. 40 bombs 100 R 100 RBI .380+ OBP. Oh right he’s slow, defensively challenged and strikes out alot. At least he can hit, more than I can say for the current Mets LF and RF.
Stache – the silver lining to those strike outs is less hits into double plays too.
I was advocating Dunn all offseason as well.
coulda, woulda, shoulda!
TRS
I disagree. Fernando would be traded in the right deal. He would certainly be traded in a deal for holliday or some other top player. Which is the right approach.
Please let me know a trade that was not done because they insisted Fernando was in the deal (a deal that was worth it).
Muprhy can be a very good role player for this team. I don’t think he is an answer long term. If he can net you a good player in return right now, you have to trade him.
the stache- wait so just because murphy doesnt hit for power as much as other guys, that means he’s not good enough as a LF for the mets? FALSE STATEMENT…how can you even say that…many great outfielders dont hit for power…that isnt everything..and i think its funny that u mention abreu because his power numbers have severely diminished over the past few years so you are contradicting himself…and adam dunn is 10 times worse defensively than murphy and also strikes out a billion times
