It's part of a government social experiment. The hypothesis is that the fans will revolt after much stress and tear down the stadium after several weeks of poor play, injury, and meltdown of key players. They (the people in the black helicopters) are attempting to figure out when and what will push them over the edge.

i actually would rather see fmart or church near the top of the order. maybe even both. im not sure how much fmart works a count.

but castillo hasnt been that good at the top, and cora is still coming back into shape.

fmarts speed will help with beltran and wright hitting behind him. and lets face it, theyre the only ones hitting.

and church needs to the #2 hitter he was... or we're in some serious trouble.

without Reyes and Delgado, Manuel has to start playing his best options consistently for a while, and despite Church and Murphy's poor starts and Martinez being completely green with inexperience this best option day in and day out is

Cora, Castillo, Beltran, Wright, Church, Murphy, Santos, Martinez

Sheffield was a nice story for a few weeks.

Ok, this is just getting ridiculous. I would say the Mets should retool this year and try to get some young talent for 2010, but who would they deal? Right now one of our bigger chips would be Luis Castillo.

I don't think they should give up on this season and I don't blame Omar for this rash of injuries, but something has to change soon.

What about breaking up this "core" and trading Reyes this offseason? Could we create one of those old fashioned deals like the old Alomar/Joe Carter to the Blue Jays for George Bell/McGriff. Maybe put Reyes in some sort of deal to get Adrian Gonzalez.

They have to sit Shef more. His 40 years are starting to show and his legs are barking. Jerry even said as much the other day.

Yes management said, lets play without Delgado and Reyes, it will be a good test of breaking the core.

If they keep FMart up he needs to play every day, so this doesn't bode well for Church. I'm thinking trade bait? Or they are going to sit Sheff more, something I think they should be doing.

I'd like to see him used less and Tatis sat for Murphy. Murph hits lefties okay from what I saw and needs to play like most young players.

The Mets really are poorly managed from top to bottom in my opinion.

They are on the brink of disaster. They are about to face the Phils, Yankees, Braves and Brewers. This lineup is a joke. And, although Jerry thinks he has some sort of zen-like knowledge of the player's abilities on a day-to-day basis, his mixing and matching does not work. There is one fact and that is that the Mets have scored an average of two runs less per game (think about that) since Reyes has been injured.

Good. I'm happy to have Ryan Church back, if he can actually probably. Maybe in a more limited role, he'll seem more valuable. Kind of like how it's being debated with Werth and the Phillies, I just think he gets over exposed. Plus, all his power seems to have been depleted with an indent by Citi Field. One platooner back, two ''core'' position players, one under performing reliever. That's what we're waiting for now. At least the Phillies lost Myers for the year.
