Not a dig. I prefer him taking this approach as opposed to taking uppercuts and trying to do too much. The underlying dig is probably directed at Jerry. He should change things up a bit.

I’ve been a Met’s fan since 73, it’ll take a lot more then the current events to push me off the edge. I remember the mid eighty’s and all those games with the east leading Cards.

People need to calm down and take a deep breathe. Yes I am pissed that we lost but I am not ready to throw in the towel yet. First of all, If it wasn’t for one great catch we would of taken 2/3 from them. Second we are still only 4 games back and that may seem like a lot but it is still way too early in the season. Third I guarantee that Omar will make a deal for a big hitter in the coming weeks. I think these 3 games would of been a lot different if we did have that big hitter. So lets not jump of the bridge quiet yet fellow Mets fans.

I thought the same thing. With that said, its not his fault no one is on in front on him. That Gary looks like an over the hill player now.

Though your thought process is interesting, I think its a suttle dig at Wright again. Wright could have won the game yesterday with that hit. He is not the reason for the offensive woes.

If there is no underlying dig there, I apologize.

first off, you can argue parnell in that spot if you want. At some point, you have to hit. You can’t pitch parnell and Rodriguez everyday. This game is on the offense for not coming up with a big hit. It also all came down to 1 pitch…the hanger a terrific Redding threw in the 7th. I knew at that point if they tied it, we were going to lose. I thought Parnell should have been in the game in the 7th after the first runner got on.

This is a loss, you can’t win them all. Yesterday was a more hurtful loss because that game we SHOULD have won. This one? It was anyone’s game.

Exactly. The threat of the long ball is the big thing in late and/or extra innning games. The Mets just don’t have much of a threat. You could see it in the ninth. The Phillies pitched carefully to Wright, because he was a true threat, and he chased a 2-0 slider and got himself out. Tatis and F-Mart were no threat to them. Truly, there was no threat again until Beltran was due up.

Wright is hitting over .600 over the past 7 games, but all it seems he is doing is hitting leadoff singles. It might make sense to have him hit #3 if he is going to stick with this high batting average opposite field approach. No sense keeping him in the 5th spot with this approach.
