Health: Sheffield to Get MRI

Before the Mets-Yankees game today, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports noted that Gary Sheffield has been experiencing discomfort behind his knee for the last two weeks, and will get an MRI in the next couple days.

This isn’t anything new. I remember a couple weeks ago someone was talking about how Sheff is suffering from a similar injury to what Reyes has, but because his game isn’t speed-based, he’s soldiering through it.

Obviously his DH’ing has helped. I think we will need to play him about 2-3 times a week while letting Church get the majority of the RF AB’s and maybe FMART sharing LF. Also why don’t the Mets have power in the minors. I just looked at their LF stats. The guy with the most HR’s is Willie Mo Pena with 4. I mean there is no one to promote that can fill in if Sheffield goes down as far as power.
