The shoe thing is crazy, i don’t buy it at all, but excuses will run rampant until he comes back at full strength, whenever that may be.

The only core player who has managed to stay off the DL the last 2 years is Wright, but we all know full well that it would take a major catastrophe to knock him out of commission for more than one game at a time.

Generally Ollies problems are in his head. This season I’m not sure though, his velocity was down considerably in all his starts and spring training. Some thing was wrong beyond him being his usual lackadaisical self. His control is never great even when he is on but when hes missing 5 mph off his fastball and misses toward the middle he gets hit hard. Hopefully he finds that extra velocity in rehab.

I don’t know guys, looks like the baseball gods just don’t want us to win one this year. Delgado, Reyes, Beltran, Maine, Perez, Cora, Pagan, Church, Schneider, and now possibly Sheffield?

No team can withstand that many injuries…no matter how much some of you want it to be, this is NOT Omar’s fault.

However, I think the medical staff should be wiped clean this offseason. They’ve done a decent job in keeping guys like Reyes, Wright, Beltran, and Delgado healthy for the last two or three years, but the way they have handled the plethora of injuries this season is just appalling.

I think the reality is that every time the Mets have a doctor look at one of their players, the red light bulb on the players nose goes off and we lose them.

The simply are not going to play “Operation” with them anymore, and will just run them out there until they collapse. Maybe it will end up being like the Jetsons, and when Sheffield finally collapses they will send little robots out to sweep up the remains….

I hope you’re right dap, but it is hard to expect a lot from Ollie. He ought to spend some time with Pelf’s sports psychologist. If he can just get it together we all know that he can be effective.

In no way should the team rely on him but what a boost it’d be if he did come back with a healthy body and mind. With the way the back end of the rotation has stepped up the pen could end up real strong down the stretch.

Back to Shef and his infamous non-MRI, I just continued to be baffled by this team. One thing is for sure: the Mets organization would do well in the NFL or NHL where injury disclosure is at a minimum.
