The Mets have been playing horrible; the Phils have been playing worse.

we can be three up if we had won a few.

And the Phils could've buried us if they played up to par.

Sounds like a wash if you ask me.

is the tank half full or half empty? either way it's @ a half.

We need to tread water until the calvary arrives and then it'll be a ride. If anyone had told me that The Mets would have met their medical deductable in June and still be in the thick of it, I would have laughed.

as for the phillies i believe that pitching is the key and they have only been managing to get by with their awful pitching because they are a great offensive club but now its all starting to come apart for them there is only so far you can go without good pitching and a good bullpen

That Victorino comment sounds an awful lot like the Mets locker room circa 2007.

I am not discrediting the fact that they were champions last year, nothing changes that, but it is a were. You get no special accomodations as current title holder, there is no hall pass to the playoffs. They are playing atrocious baseball and should have buried the Mets and the rest of the division by now.

Their little reality tv show on MLB Network "The Pen" is turning into a real life comedy.

Chew13, you'd actually rather see Cora or Castillo batting leadoff once Reyes is back and healthy? I'm sorry, but to me that just sounds absolutely insane.

To state the obvious; if that big red cross comes on Mets Blog with Beltan and/or Santana's name next to it, we will need a miracle. The only bright side to that would be we could start the rebuild we were promised last winter. I just believe Delgado was too high a risk. On a positive I finally got to Citi on Saturday and while the team disappoints the new digs are out of this world. Wow!

"At the end of the day, I’m walking out of this place,
and we’re still in first place. That’s how you’ve got to look at it.”

Willie, is that you?

You could also look at it in a glass half full approach. The Phils left the door open for the Mets by not using a good opportunity to bury us. Instead, they let us off the hook and we are only 2 games back.

I agree 110%. Players all go through slumps. Just because he was a rookie and has options people wanted to send him down. The guy can hit, and he has a good approach. He has as many walks as Strikeouts.

I don't think putting Perez in the bullpen is the right thing to do. He's a starter, and if anything him being in the bullpen goes against his weakest part. He is prone to huge innings, which you don't want out of the bullpen.

I do agree to keep Nieve in the rotation at least for another start. He has been so terrific that you can't send him anywhere. He was a top prospect 2 years ago before Tommy John.

I think the Mets just need to get consistent Starting pitching. The offense has been there, yes they got shut out by Shields, but they had 6 runs and 5 on friday. I don't know what more you can ask for. You lose a game 10-6 your pitching let you down not your offense. This month alone they lost 6 games when they have scored 4 runs.
