Hey Matt:

Take today’s game. Who do you think the Mets needed more tonight– Delgado or Maine/Ollie. The right answer, as per the fans, is Delgado (meaning offense), not Maine/Ollie as per your override over the fans on national TV.

More often than not Livan has given us a quality start. Nieve has as well. Note, Ollie even last year was hit or miss. Half the time he gave us a quality start and the other half he did not. So even if you had Ollie back he would not be that much better than our over achieving 5th starters. And Maine, well, he was up for a while and he also failed to give us length.

As for HR power provided by Delgado, who has stepped up and replaced such production? Answer? no one. Mets are near last in HRs.

Based on the above, I think you should trust your fan base. Its offense that is most missed (i.e. Delgado).

What they planned to do was sit arod once every 5 games. They didn’t and now they think they rushed too much too soon.

If you think sitting Delgado once every 5 games, but he is hitting is a bad thing. I don’t know what to tell ya.

Like it did when David Wright was in it in 2006 where he had 20 HR’s before the HR derby and only 6 the entire 2nd half of the season.

It can happen and it will happen. I think his Homers will come. If he’s hitting at a 350 clip and hitting deep doubles he will get some HR’s. I don’t know if he will get 30 HR’s for the year, but i think he will make it to 25.

Couldn’t the fatigue be a spin by the Yanks? How come people seem to be forgetting he was named as testing positive for PEDs while he was out with this hip injury…..none of this is mental with him?

Evan Longoria has struck out as often (per plate appearance) as Wright, and is hitting 50 points less, but because he has more HR through 65 games I hear people say he better. 85 RBI for a WS team at the age Wright had 105 on a 3rd place team. All the steals. It’s just crazy how people think because Wright is streaky, he should be able to stay hot an entire season. I bet in five years, when he continues this production but does not get better, people will begin to appreciate what he is and not what he could be.

I agree and disagree with you kickedinthemetsicles again (by the way – love the name lol). I agree that we cant expect Delgado to produce right away which is why we need a big bat NOW but I disagree that he is done.

All of SNY, including LoudMouths and WheelHouse, yell and scream how the Yankees misused AROD by playing him everyday after coming off of hip surgery… and that is the reason for his poor performance.

Wait a second…… wont Delgado have the same issue? Won’t he need to be babied the same way? To think Delgado can some how come back and succeed where AROD could not is pure folley!

Delgado is done. Stick a fork in him. He will not help this team in 2009.
