Hard to see the Red Sox letting Jason Bay go though, so itll be up to the Mets and probably the Yankees, because god forbid they didnt land the big name free agent one year, for Matt Holliday

Logically speaking, with a righty on the mound and Murphy swinging the bat well the Mets should get him a day off so that they can keep Tatis fresh as a daisy.

Actually if you took his numbers currently with his extreme cold stretch, he would project to 20 HR if he got 600 AB’s which is about a standard for a player for a season taking in days off and what not. So saying 20-30 HR isn’t that far fetched.

Would flip Beltran and Wright there. Beltran, I feel, fits better toward the top of the order.

Generally, I agree with you, but Carlos Lee will be hard to come by. You could get Jermaine Dye, maybe, but he’s getting up in the years and has been bothered by minor injuries multiple times this season.

Murphy can easily be the first basemen of the future for our METS but a few things need to change on this squad to allow that to happen.

1) We need 2 more power bats for the outfield to compliment Beltran

2) David Wright must have his power numbers return to 25 or so dingers

3) Mets need a “rangey” 2nd basemen

A team of our future can not have Church in RF with 15 hr potential, Fmart in LF with 10 HR potential in the near term and an aging Castillo

I think if we have a Carlos Lee type for LF and an Fmart in RF, we can live with DMurph at 1b

Here is a short version for the 2010 lineup that I could live with…Still missing one big bat but reality is what reality is

I always thought that Murphy reminded me of Hernandez. I think he has the most potential to be the team leader.

for all we know about murphy we def. know that he works hard and that he is going to work hard at 1st, he has made some good plays and some heads up plays such as getting the lead runner. I don’t stress about him at first like I did when he was in left

Murph’s defense has been one bright spot in an otherwise downwardly cascading season. I think the 15 to 20 HR’s is a little high. Especially if he is going to play at citi.

On a similar defensive note. Is it just me, or are Wrights throws looking much better of late. I haven’t seen every inning of late, but I have not seen a tailing throw or short hop in weeks. In fact, his arm looks stronger than it has in the passed. Connection to not having an experienced first basemen?

well, Murphy might not have been the best 3B, but you can’t survive over there unless you have some pretty quick reflexes!

And he has made some very nice plays. Looks like with some tutoring and a lot of practice, he could become quite good.

SOme of his pick and throw to 2nd then back to 1st DPs have been sweet, although most 1B don’t get back to the back for the return throw!
