According to a poll in the Baltimore Sun, 80 percent of 14,000 voters say Mets fans are the most obnoxious fans in baseball.

Meanwhile, six percent voted for the Yankees, five percent voted for the Red Sox and just one percent voted for the Phillies.
…look, i’m no peach, and i know my blue-and-orange brother and sisters can be a bit rough from time to time as well, but 80 percent… really… 80… how can that be possible… frankly, i think our biggest crime is self loathing… but, in terms of external obnoxious behavior, gloating, etc., come on, Phillies fans and Yankees fans have to take the prize…
…jeez, you’d think Mike Francesa and Wallace Matthews would have better things to do with their day than vote 10,000 times in an online poll… oh, i kid, i kid…

I smell a rat. I am fully aware that some people consider Met fans obnoxious, but there is no reason for the results to be that eye-popping, especially in an AL-town like Baltimore. I’m guessing some Philly scum pickup up on the poll and jammed the ballot box.

No way that Mets fans are more obnoxious than Yankees or Red Sox fans…I’d even put Philly fans ahead of the Mets, because how many people cheer opposing players getting hurt?

red sox fans have even surpassed Yankee fan in the ego department. And Philly fans always were more rude and obnoxious.
Besides, how many people in Baltimore actually know a Met fan?
I work in a sports bar and yankee fans are easily the loudest and most obnoxious. Sox fans come very close. I rarely see any Philly fans.

Living in Boston, They have certainly risen to the top of worst fans…but im not sure about obnoxious. We can be pretty obnoxious. Especially with some of the “blow-out” crowds we garner (no offense)
I would put STL Cardinals fans towards the top of the list as well. Very self righteous for some reason.
Well they are the most successful NL franchise so you figure their fans would be self righteous and a little obnoxious, but I don’t think you can put any midwest team’s fans on the same level as the east coast’s, specifically the Phils, Mets, Yanks, and Sox. It’s just a different baseball mentality that could be described as obnoxious.
If the Mets fans are guilty of anything, it’s over-hyped expectations, when in reality we haven’t won anything and have no reason to be gloating. In the gloating department overall, the Phils, Yanks, and Sox have us beat hands down.
Yeah, no doubt to me that this poll was picked up on by some Phillies or Yankees blogger. No way Mets fans have such a terrible rap in Baltimore.

judging by what i saw in sec 333 on Sunday night, Yankee fans are the most obnoxious faaaaar and away. two of the most obnoxious SOBs (one male, one female) i have ever seen
