That's not fair. Omar has signed a bunch of Latino players when they were teenagers, so they will obviously take longer to develop.

Didn't they just drop a big amount of money on an international catcher a year or two ago.I cannot remember his name but most thought he would ultimately be a DH/1b.

i dont quite understand the philosophy especially when it seems college players are very polished nowadays youd think they would try to over pay for someone who has actually hit puberty instead of a complete raw talent.

i agree the mets system gets alot of grief and its not all deserved. is it on par with boston? or anaheim? no of course not, but our farm system has given us the chance to trade for some big name guys like santana, carlos delgado, and jj putz even though he got hurt..

I asked ESPN's Jorge Arangure about Juan Urbina via Twitter and where he would have placed in the draft had he been eligible. Arangure stated that Urbina would have been a 2nd or 3rd round talent.

I like the fact that the Mets got Urbina and Steven Matz via the draft. It adds two quality left-handed arms to the Mets farm system, which they sorely need.

I firmly believe having at least a league average player step in when a starting player goes down to injury for any period of time keeps your team production at a consistent level. A guy like Erik Hinske is that kind of guy and he should be a Met right now. Also he's won a championship so he's "a winner," whatever that means.

We don't need an Adam Dunn or a Cliff Lee, we need an Aubrey Huff or a Mark DeRosa to go with a Jeff Suppan.

I am not an Omar fan.. but the mets system isn't really that bad.. yes I wish they spent more in the draft.. but they have produced talent and used talent for trade...

It's middle of the pack, maybe a tick above..

I admit they could invest in the draft more, but you can't say its barren because its not.
