Injury: Martinez, Maine, Pagan
By Michael Baron - Jul 4, 2009 9:03 am

Prior to yesterday’s game, Fernando Martinez was seen in the clubhouse limping, and he told the Daily News that he has been bothered by pain in a ligament behind his right knee.

Martinez ended the game last night with a pinch hit groundout.

…is anyone surprised…

Meanwhile, John Maine has been cleared to lightly throw a baseball every other day, but he has not been able to even exercise his sore shoulder since being shutdown last week.

Finally, Angel Pagan, who has been sidelined by a strained groin, should be ready to begin rehab games on Monday.

  1. Our wonderful training staff is at it again! Never in my life have I seen anything like this…this is not coincidence, there is reasoning behind it.

I swear, if Jerry, HoJo, or anybody on this medical staff is back in 2010, I will be f-ing shocked.

I’m starting to think that the turf at citifield is to blame here…Reyes beltran delgado Martinez pagan and sheff have all been suffering from leg problems. Delgado was a pre-Existing condition, and old age may have contributed to sheff, but the one thing these guys have in common, except delgado is that these are all guys who cover a lot of ground, and young, with the exception of sheff….I hope the team checks this out…

Ravi Citifield is made up of grass not turf.

The problem is the training staff.

How can you blame the training staff for ligaments and tendons?

These guys are all professional athletes who exercise and stretch under very watchful eyes.

these things happen, esp w/ well trained athletes. The core has been lucky NOT to have suffered from injuries the past three years.

        It’s just their turn.

To blame the staff, is just that, looking for someone to blame. It’s all just meanless correlation.

It would be one thing if one person had a problem and another had another. But when two or more people have the same issue than I have to ask questions.

off topic, but Aroldis Chapman did defect yesterday.

I wonder if MLB, or Scott Boras chartered the flight out of Amsterdam?
