I think the problem is the Wilpons. No matter how many times they say it, the Madoff scandal hurt this team badly.

Omar can only do what he is allowed to do...

I also said pick him up, but everyone on here just ripped me a new one because he is "the next Roberto Alomar." What a stupid argument that was...

Hudson has had two freak injuries (broken bones), which are not nagging and reoccurring injuries. He is also a GG caliber fielder, and can hit for average with some pop.

Not to mention he is a hard-nosed leader, and it never hurts to add a guy like that to your clubhouse. He's making LA look really smart for signing him.

First of all, Holliday would be a rental. He'd be stupid to sign after playing with a team for a couple of months, especially when he thinks he can get a huge contract from a team like Boston or the Yankees in the offseason.

Secondly, you wouldn't be creating more holes because Dunn can play 1B and OF. Say you trade Church and Murphy, then Dunn plays 1B until Delgado comes back, at which point he will play LF. Until Gado gets back, Evans, F-Mart, Reed, Sheff, and Tatis can hold down the OF.

Thirdly, Holliday is a horrible defender as well. Holliday is a .980 fielder in the OF, while Dunn is a .983 fielder at 1B (where he would play after this season). Defense is not a valid argument.

Dunn is signed through 2010, is cheaper, and won't cost F-Mart, Flores, Holt, or Mejia to get. The choice between the two is a no-brainer.

He isn't only an upgrade over 2b defensively but he would be an upgrade offensively over ANYBODY we currentlly have on the roster which is why we would be in a better position right now if Omar the moron picked him up last year and benched or cut Castillo...

Oh yea Freddie Coupon wouldn't like that.

I suppose Omar is going to have to learn to build a farm system before he can make deals. Maybe he should start there instead of dealing what the Mets already have. Not wanting to sound like I'm giving up on the '09 season but let's be real here.

No Teahens and Spilborgs, I hope. They are bodies and nothing else and therfore not worth giving up anything more than bags of balls. The only guy I'd be OK with us moving good prospects for is Dunn because he is at least under contract thru next year. Other than that, I vote we just grin and bear it.

Even though Dunn doesnt fit that mold of fast and athletic he is going to play 1B for the most part for them. And is under contract for the rest of this year and next year so its not like he has us tied down, he is a professional hitter that the middle of this lineup needs asap

It would be foolish to trade any regulars the mets have...if u get dunn u can slot him in LF and have sheff go back to the bench and let evans/murph play 1B...or u can play him at 1B and let sheff and whoever platoon LF....if u trade church and murphy...or any combo like that...ur just creating more holes...sheff cant be depended on to play every day..especially RF.....If omar can acquire dunn or holliday and slot them in LF...u can get by with murph/evans at 1B until delgado gets back....or even if he doesnt u can get by with wright, beltran, reyes, holliday/dunn, and even church who is showing when he plays everyday hes pretty good. With that being said....holliday is a better all around player..and will prob cost fmart and i wouldnt necessarily be against that...dunn is a bad defender(which isnt that big of a deal if hes hitting 40 bombs) and doesnt fit the "fast, athletic" mold omar has been talking about.having
