I guess it's time for Citi field to lower the beer prices. 50% off for half a team should about do it. It will cheer the crowd up, but might not take the strange part out of the equation.

The sad thing is if you take away those that are injured or not on team anymore....
Reyes, Castro, Beltran, Delgado you have a total of 31 homeruns.
That is a weak lineup anyone can be pitched to.

Ya they already have our ticket money, I bought the 15 game plan to go to opening day and hopefully playoff tickets. But I wouldn't have missed opening day at the new park for anything (even if they couldn't even win and give us fans that). So the playoffs won't be happening. The Wilpons WILL notice when the stadium is half empty by mid August, their concession sales are down by half, their SNY ad revenue is falling quickly, and they'll realize without an overhaul their preseason ticket sales will be down dramatically next season also, when with the new stadium they should have no problem moving tickets. If this team can't even get back to respectable professional baseball they will do something about it, for no other reason than their bottom line will really suffer.

Old Backstop you are 100% correct. IT is all a marketing scam to fill the seats. Imagine how season tickets holders feel when we dont hear a word from ownership and Omar tells us yesterday he isn't doing anything and are waiting for the core to come back (Not happening). Its not only unfair to season ticket holders but every other Met fan who watches and attends games especially after the last two seasons. It is insulting.

I was at the game last night, with my 6 year old daughter (I have a 15-game plan).

It was brutal. First I had to pay $20 to park, tolls to drive in (plus gas), and then you get whacked with the high prices on food and drink. All of that is OK, if you are going to see a quality product.

Once it became 3-0 early in the game, I already knew the game was over, and it was time to start walking the stadium and looking for treats my daughter may want to eat. We settled on kettle corn (which was great), and we actually spent a fair amount of time in some of the shops looking at random things like hats or rice crispie treats.

Every once in a while I heard a loud moan from the crowd, only to look around and find a TV to see a replay of something like Castillo being thrown out at third base. At that point, you numbly shrug and go back to the non-baseball-watching thing you had originally been doing.

The only fun I had last night was watching my 6 year old daughter laugh as she ran the bases on the whiffle ball field. What I saw on the field was disturbing, and the lineup made me grimace when it was initially announced.

If it seemed like Reyes, Beltran and Delgado were close to returning, I would hold more optimism, but it almost seems like all of these guys are done for the season and the Mets are throwing out spin to make it sound like they are coming back just to salvage what they can in ticket sales, attendance and TV revenue.

Unfortunately for the fans who have season, mini and other plans, they already have our money. but I, for one, will refuse to spend ANY money at an establishment (like a METS Team Store) that sells merch for other teams (like the VISITING Team for this week).

hate to break it to you, but with all these injuries combined with a 4 year extension, Omar will be here in 2010.
