Buzz: Pirates looking to trade 2B Freddy Sanchez
Dejan Kovacevic of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette believes the Pirates are working hard to trade 2B Freddy Sanchez.
He’s hitting .316 with 35 extra base hits and
a .355 OBP in 304 at bats for the Pirates this season.
Sanchez, 31, won a batting title in 2006, after which he hit .304 in 2007 and .271 last season.
He will likely earn $8 million next season, after which he is eligible to be a free agent.
…in case you’re wondering, he has played 45 games at shortstop during his eight-year career…
Speaking of trade rumors…
Andy Martino and Jim Salisbury of the Philadelphia Inquirer believes the Phillies are ‘serious players’ for Blue Jays RHP Roy Halladay.
According to Buster Olney of ESPN.com, the Jays will most certainly look to acquire Philadelphia’s top prospects, Michael Taylor, Dominic Brown, Kyle Drabek and Jason Knapp.
