Health: Delgado making Progress, Reyes Resting

by Matthew Cerrone on July 9th, 2009 at 9:01 am

Carlos Delgado hit soft-toss in the batting cages yesterday, after which he played catch, and then fielded ground balls at first base.

from what i can gather, delgado didn’t do much turning or running, just keeping it simple, basic movements, fielding balls hit directly at him… nevertheless, he was on the field, which is a lot more than Carlos Beltran and Jose Reyes can say

Delgado later told reporters he feels good, and experienced no issues while hitting and fielding.

the time to be excited is when he starts hitting live pitching, and taking throws to first…

Speaking of injuries, and rehab…

Yesterday, the Pawtucket Red Sox accidentally announced that Jose Reyes would be playing in a rehab game later this week, adding, “Great seats are still available.”

However, Argenis Reyes will be playing for Triple-A Buffalo, not Jose.

from what i can gather, reyes will continue to rest following tuesday’s cortisone shot…. he is expected to report back to St. Lucie later this week… i don’t expect any one to hear news of his progress until later next week… frankly, i’m still 50–50 on whether we see him back at all this season…
