Fernando Martinez has been put on the 15–day disabled list with inflammation in his right knee.

Argenis Reyes has been promoted from Triple-A.

…i don’t know for fact, but i think martinez has been on the disabled list at least once per season during his professional career… to which Ted Berg said to me Fernando Martinez: Teenage Hurting Machine…

What is Pawtucket going to do with all those people who bought tickets to see Argenis Reyes?

Peter July 9, 2009 at 3:52 pm

i’m guessing . . . roster issues?

Peter July 9, 2009 at 3:51 pm

How about that top notch medical staff!!!! (clap, clap, clap)

Lorenzo23 July 9, 2009 at 3:52 pm

hahaha seriously the same medical staff that said Martinez would be available to play the last two games….

Honestly, Argenis Reyes or some other minor league scrub, it doesn’t matter. But I’d rather see Livan or Johan up as a pinch-hitter before I have to watch Mr Frosted Tips, Argenis Reyes, swing the bat.

fmarts injuries are becoming a little annoying and alarming…now i know people will say well jose reyes was injury prone and he recovered fine….yea ur right..he did for about 4 years…now a somewhat minor injury might keep him out for the season…i dont know why but i just feel fmarts value to the mets and other teams through trade is just downward spiraling lately..

Lorenzo23 July 9, 2009 at 3:59 pm

The difference is Jose Reyes plays short stop and bats leadof…. Both requires a lot of pressure on your legs which can cause injury. As for F-MART you should be alarmed cause he isnt a lead off hitter, plays the outfield, and isnt a stolen base guy. He shouldnt be getting hurt this much. You are correct

I’m not overly concerned they have all been different injuries if I remember correctly. I would be more concerned if it was the same injury like a pulled hamstring every year. The kid is still growing which can cause joint pain. It also is a sprained knee you or I could have that happen taking a misstep on the way to the kitchen

So…I know people will hate this but I am glad he is not on the roster. He wasnt ready and there were bodies in the dugout who should have been playing (ie Reed and Murphy)

Obviously…..

All these leg issues (Reyes, Ollie, Pagan, Sheff, F-mart, Beltran) to guys who have to cover a lit of ground make me think that there may be an issue with the playing surface in the field. Reyes and Beltran may have had leg issues in the past, but these are different injuries. Sheff’s pain may be partly due to age, but he is the only one. I really think that there is an underlying factor. If it was the training staff, then you’d see one recurring injury, but they all seem to have different issues…there has to be some under lying factor

Wow…I have no words.

Hahaha, Joe and Evan just creamed Wayne Hagan on when Fmart is going to the DL.

Can’t make this up. WTFF? And our best call up is Argenis Reyes batting .077? how many times can I type WTF? That’s some great depth we have in the majors and minor leagues. Can’t wait for Jerry to bat Tatis 5th again tonight so he can hit into 3 more DP’s and then use Argenis Reyes to pinch hit in the 6th when we’re trailing by 3 runs with men on base.

I sometimes wonder if he does that to try and show Omar up? Puts up the kid with no hitting ability and zero pop just to show “hey look, here’s what you gave me to work with”?

Serioulsy thjere is nothing better than Argenis Reyes to promote. Just who i want to see pinch hit in the 8th inning when we really need a hit. And for real, let Murphy play already. i am so sick of Fernando Tatis, he clearly is done and last year was a fluke. Why is he playing. Manuel mentions his pop, what does he have 2 homers? Murphy has 5, as many as Wright.

The Mets would have been better off just keeping FMart active till Pagan was ready. They essentially are still playing a man down.

Just looking at the Bisons stats I would rather see Sullivan or Jesus Feliciano get a shot than Reyes. At least those guys are hitting over 300 and in the case of Sullivan has showed to be somewhat useful in the majors. Reyes gives us squat. I would rather keep FMart active and either play a man down or tell him to go up each time and try to bomb one.

argenis reyes reminds me of rey ordonez (maybe its the frost tipped hair) without the defense, which essentially is just a terrible baseball player.

kd bart July 9, 2009 at 5:24 pm

He won’t be up long. Angel Pagan is playing rehab games at Single A and will probably be back real soon.
