My first thought was this is the first good thing that happened to the Mets all year.

Then of course I realized what Jamie Moyer or Raul Ibanez have done to the Mets once they are wearing Philadelphia's dirty laundry and the smirk left my face. Moyer and Pedro can fight the battle of who can pitch slower and more crafty. Then the Phils can sign Tom Gl*vine too. They'll all baffle Mets hitters at some point im sure.

As some of you said, it's hard to see how this matters anyway, since the mets are no longer really standing in the phullies way.

What the Phillies do from here on out is as relevant to the Mets as what the Mariners do.

It's over. This is the most talentless, lifeless Mets roster I've ever seen. Ever. Even the 92-93 and 02-03 teams had on-paper talent.

This team has nothing and Omar is going to rest on his 3-year extension and do nothing about it. By time the first of Delgado, Reyes, or Beltran is back this team will be a minimum of 12 games back. Mark it down.

You would think. They have 3 prospects in the Baseball America top 25, 2 of them pitchers and another in the top 50 that's a pitcher. None of those are their favorite Carrasco, who i've heard about for 3 years now and keeps getting passed over, and isn't even performing that well in AAA. But he is only 22.

I'm happy to see them waste their time with pedro. But as others have said..... He will shut out the mets, i mean chan ho park did, Rodrogio Lopez did, why wouldn't pedro?

you'd think the Phils would go with someone from the minors instead of Pedro. Pedro can't be their best option.

It wouldn't bother me a bit to see Pedro in a Phillies uniform. He's just not that good anymore.

Dave27,

Of course as I am an amatuer arm chair GM, the Mets should have signed Pedro. I had said to my pals that sign sign him as a preemptive strike againsdt one of our competitors. If Pedro gives one good start to a team and the Phillies win the division by one game, money well spent. I just sooo frustrated.....I am tired of Jerry managing this team with a little league mentality. Let Murphy ride the wave of his stellar night! This isnt little league and players dont "need" at bats. Such A joke........

I actually encourage them to sign Pedro because all of us know how much Pedro sucks. If every other team refused him, you get the picture. I don't think he'd do well in a pitcher's park. For what it's worth though, I trust nothing with Deportiva in it. It's unreliable. Charlie Manuel didn't sound ethused about Pedro either.
